Difficult points: How to describe by using numbers.Teaching method:Task-based Teaching MethodTeaching aids :The multi-Media, word cards, key sentence structures cards, postcards.Teaching steps:Step 1: Warming up and lead-in.1Warming up: T: This is the first time I come to Xiamen, Xiamen is really beautiful, people are very good, so I want to make lots of friends here, and do you want to be my friend? OK , I am Sara. Please say Hello to me. (Teacher encourages students by using body language)2Lead-in:T: Do you want to be my friends? Please introduce yourself first! S: (Encourage students try to say) my names Im T: (ask another) whats your hobby?T: Do you want to know more about me? My hobby is collecting postcards. Look, here is my postcards book, they are very beautiful. (Show the word postcard and postcards.)Step 2: Presentation:1. ShowingT: Look at the screen. They are all postcards, this is a picture of panda, look at this one, its a picture of (Introduce the postcards on the screen)2. New words and sentences.Are they beautiful? Now, lets play a guessing game.T: (Take one postcard) please guess what it is about? Its a kind of animal, its fat and lovely. (Show the word more, and sentence Tell me more.)S: (Lead the student to say some more about panda, and then give the postcard to him.) It is for you!T: (Take another postcard of the Changing River) It is a river in China, it is very long (Describe the Changing River) S: Its a picture of (Lead to answer with Its a picture of )T: Tell me more about The Changing River. How long is it? .( Show the sentence How long is it?)Look at the screen, I have some answers here, which one is right?Show the word card thousand and kilometer.Then lead to say and choose one answer. Check the answer. T: The last picture, it is a big city in China; it is in the north, its very cold in winter (Describe Harbin) S: Its a picture of T: Tell me more about Harbin. How big is it? (Show the sentence How big is it?) Show the word card million. Then lead to say and choose one answer.Check the answer.Step 3: Practice:(Show a picture of Daming and ask:“ Who s that little boy?”)T: Daming is visiting America, he is talking something with his cousin, Simon. What are they talking about? Do you want to know? Lets look the questions on the screen and listen to the dialogue, then answer them.Are the postcards beautiful? Is the Great Wall Short? How long is the Great Wall? How big is Beijing? How big is New York?Then check the answer. Ss choose the postcards and describe in small groups. Then write something more about the postcard on the Showing card, then say it out.Step 4: Conclusion:(Ask some students in each group to be a guider, and introduce their postcards.)T: I think is the most beautiful place, I want to go, and I cant wait, lets go now, ok? Im from Guizhou. Its in the south of China”如果有必要,可以用中文稍加解释和说明,然后向学生们提问:“Where are you from? Where is your pen friend from?如果学生能说出其他国家的名称,要及时鼓励表扬,并带领其他学生一起学习。2Lead-in: 老师出示Simon的图片,向学生提问:“Who is he?” “Where is he from?引导回答:“Simons from New York, America.” 老师把单词写在黑板上,领读,然后提问:“Where is New York?” 老师出示美国地图并向学生提问:“This is a map of America. Can you find New York?” 引导学生在地图上找到纽约的位置。可以向学生说明:“纽约是美国的一个重要城市。大家已经在地图上找到了它的位置,可是你们知道用英语应该怎样表达吗?今天我们就来学习这些内容。”Step 2: Presentation:在地图上标注东(east)、南(south)、西(west)、北(north),帮助学生复习这些单词并注意纠正他们的发音。老师领读单词。学生们能够读准后,做一个游戏巩固新单词:根据老师的口令做动作例如: Please turn to the north. Please turn to the south. Please turn to the east. Please turn to the west. 老师随意发出口令,学生要尽快执行口令。老师可以不断加快发出口令的速度,以加大活动难度。 老师放录音,请学生边听边看SB Unit2活动1的地图。带领学生学习表达地理位置的方法。Step 3: Practice:使用地图与拼图相结合的方法。先出示世界地图,让学生快速记忆。然后取下地图,运用世界地图拼图的一部分。一边拼,一边教授方向及位置的表达方法。然后让学生描述并拼完剩下的部分。如:S: Canada is in the north of America.T: Thank you .please put the puzzle in the map.拼图完成后还可在全班进行师生问答。如:T: Where is Canada?Ss: It is in the north of America.Step 4: Conclusion:两个学生一组,各自说出自己心中想的一个城市,如果两人说的城市不一样,即可让学生说出这两个城市的相对应的位置。如:S1:Guizhou is in the south of China. It is in the east of Xingjiang.S2: Xingjiang is in the west of China. It is in the west of Guiyang.Homework:Remember the sentence.Blackboard writing: New York is in the east of America. What can you see in this picture?”请学生回答你的问题。有些学生可能对唐人街有所了解,肯定他们的发言和大胆尝试。对学生说:“Daming现在在美国表兄的家里,他正在给家人发送email。他想念家人吗?他今天了解到了关于美国的什么情况呢?让我们一起看看。学过今天的课文。我们要试着使用这些语言介绍一个我们自己去过的有趣的地方.”2Lead in: 学习新词,并用新词造句。帮助学生了解新词的含义,及实际运用。Step 2: Presentation:老师将本课的挂图贴在黑板上,或是通过播放动画呈现SB活动l。请学生认真听Daming和Simon的对话,然后判断Daming是否想念中国,为什么?通过文中的对话“Do you miss China ? Sometimes.”以及Daming迫不及待地想要去唐人街的表现,老师可以引导学生得出肯定的回答,并引出“Chinatown”的话题。老师提问:“Where is Chinatown? What is it like?”再放一遍录音,请学生看着书听并试着从书中找出问题的答案。学生掌握后老师放录音,请学生逐句跟读课文。Step 3: Practice:请学生看SB活动2中的插图,并试着描述图中有些什么。鼓励学生大胆尝试。然后放录音,请学生仔细听,并注意对话中所使用的语言。引导学生回顾井比较”there is”和“there are”的用法。Step 4: Conclusion:这课主要运用“找不同”的方法来实现用“There be”句型描述事物的目的。学生观察演示文稿中两幅图的相同点与不同。用“There be”句型表述出来。注意单复数be动词的用法以及就近原则。Homework:Remember the words and sentences.Blackboard writing:Unit 1 Chinatown in AmericaTheres a Chinatown in New York!
