摘要 随着认知语言学的兴起，隐喻的作用开始获得重新地认识。在传统修辞学中， 隐喻只是被当作一种修辞格来看待。而在新兴的认知语言学中，隐喻却占据着重 要的位置：它被当作一种重要的认识工具来帮助我们更好地了解这个世界，它是 如此重要以致于成为我们赖以生存的隐喻。 本文从认知语言学的角度对英汉两种语言中的爱情隐喻进行对比研究，目的 是为了从英汉两种文化的角度来支持隐喻的现代认知理论。 传统的观点把隐喻视为一种语言现象。作为一组特别的或者是比喻的语言表 达形式，它的意思可以被简化为某套字面命题。这种观点可以追溯到亚历士多德， 他是用普通语言的背离来定义隐喻的。“隐喻是给事物一个属于别的事物的名称” ( 利可，1 9 7 5 ：1 3 ) 。根据这个理论，隐喻在本质上主要被看作是装饰性的。由此， 隐喻就被称为是一种辞格，其研究主要是限于文学和修辞方面( 莱可夫，1 9 8 6 ) 。 对予隐喻的理解，目前主要存在以下几种理论：比较理论、替代理论和相互作用 理论。而认知语言学的兴起为解释隐喻的本质提供了一个新视野。根据认知语言 学的奠基人莱可夫和约翰逊的观点( 1 9 8 0 ) ，隐喻在语言和思维中是无处不在的， 并占据重要地位，可以看作是一种思维方式。人类的概念系统不可避免的由隐喻 构成，在人类的思维和认知的深层次起作用，同时也在日常生活中以系统的方式 出现。 为了揭示爱情的概念系统，本文翔实地调查了大量的中英文爱情隐喻，经过 分析比较发现，中英文爱情隐喻具有共同的概念系统，两者都通过“旅途”， “人”、“容器”、 “植物”、“交易”、j “火”、“战争”、“人体”等 概念系统来理解爱情。然而，不同点也是存在的。在“爱情是人体”这一概 念隐喻中，汉语所涉及的人体部位比英语多，而英语中“爱情是有营养的”这 一概念隐喻在中文中是不存在的。 本文的研究证实了莱可夫的观点：隐喻是无处不在的，它对人类理解抽象事 物，理解客观世界及谈话都发挥着重要的作用，而且也符合隐喻的形成是建立在 自身的体验之上的理论。通过研究可以看到基督教，个人主义及对物质生活和金 钱的重视强烈的影响了英语语言中爱情的概念化；而中国传统的阴阳理论，儒家 学说，及集体主义则对汉语语言中爱情概念的形成有着深远的影响。 关键词：概念隐喻认知爱情文化 a b s t r a
