摘要 中国古典诗词的翻译一直是一个热烈讨论的话题。很多学者就诗歌的可译性以 及诗歌翻译的方法论提出自己的见解。尽管对于诗歌是否可译仍然争论不休，国内 和国际的一些译者还是翻译了大量中国古典诗词，杨宪益、戴乃迭夫妇就是这方面 的典型代表。本文以杨氏夫妇的唐诗译本为范例，以黄忠廉最先提出的变译理 论为框架，来分析唐诗中的变译现象。 第一章介绍了诗歌翻译的现状，并分析了诗歌翻译的难点。回顾了历代翻译名 家，如严复、许渊冲等对于诗歌翻译提出的标准。 第二章主要介绍了变译理论。这一章介绍了该理论产生的根源，可能性以及必 要性；阐述了变译理论的主要框架和理论精髓。变译理论的提出，引出了传统意义 上的全译和变译的辨证矛盾。本章也论证了全译与变译的辩证关系、二者之间的差 异，以及各自在翻译实践中运用的优势劣势。并回顾了变译理论提出的理论依据： 包括奈达的功能对等理论、纽马克的文本功能论等西方的翻译功能论。 第三章和第四章分别从文化和语言的角度分析了变译理论在杨氏夫妇唐诗 译本中的应用。诗词中有大量文学典故，正是这些典故使诗词本身具有深厚的中国 文化底蕴，也是它们使诗词的翻译在转化文化信息时加大了难度；而大量的人名地 名等专有名词的翻译更是难上加难。第三章列举了一些实例，译者在解决这些难题 时使用了大量的变通手法，完成了两种语言中文化信息的传递。第四章集中讨论语 言方面的变通。词汇、文体等语言方面的特征是中国古典诗词的特色。文章分析了 变通手段在处理这些难点时的利与弊。 最后一部分是结论。由于中国文化与西方文化以及中英两种语言文字的不同特 点，译者灵活运用变译理论，采用变通手段，使译文最大程度的传递中国文化，为 读者所接受，这才是变译理论的意义所在。 关键词：唐诗，变译理论，变通手段 a b s t r a c t t h et r a n s l a t
