论为工具，把理论分析和文本细读结合起来，对儿子与情人所呈现出的叙事特 征进行深入的解读。这不仅可以使我们对劳伦斯的研究更全面，而且可以增进我们 对经典叙事学的认识和理解，为叙事学研究提供了文本分析的范例。 本论文包括五个部分： 第一章简要地介绍劳伦斯及( j l 子与情人的故事情节和主题，并回顾自作品 出版以来国内外学者对其所作的评论和研究，以及本文的理论基础一经典叙事学 的发端，发展，同时对热奈特的叙事话语理论进行扼要的介绍，最后指明本文的研 究方法及目的。 论文的主体部分在第二章，第三章，第四章中扩展。这几个章节主要从叙事时 间，叙事聚焦及叙事方式三个方面，深入着重探讨该自传体小说在叙事策略上对叙 事文学传统的继承与创新。 第二章着重分析儿子与情人的叙事时间。在时间的处理上，该小说呈现出 高超的技巧。本章将从时序，时距，频率三个方面来阐释小说中的叙事时间技巧。 从总体上看，儿子与情人采用顺序，但是这并不排除在必要的时候适当巧妙地穿 插“时间倒错”如倒叙、预叙，真实地表现了人物的内心思想经历，同时能够激发 读者对故事的好奇心。而省略、概要、场景、停顿等时距的灵活运用不仅使小说的 节奏有张有弛，而且还经常产生其它一些特殊的叙事效果。 第三章将重点阐释该小说中叙事聚焦及叙述者的艺术特色。作为一部自传体小 说，儿子与情人并没有遵循自传体小说写作的常规即第一人称叙述自己的早年经 历，而是采用第三人称全知视角，使叙述者既可以以洞察一切的方式自如进入任何 人物的内心，也可将视角限制在某一个人物，通过人物的眼光来观察故事世界，可 以更自然地接触到人物内- 0 细致复杂的思想活动。因此，借助第三人称全知叙述者 作为叙述视角能够使小说的叙述更接近读者在现实世界中观察、接受人物与事件的 状态。此外该小说中存在叙事聚焦转换和叙事裂痕：劳伦斯主要采用全知叙述者的零 聚焦并辅之以人物内聚集。很显然小说的第一部分中人物聚焦者基本上是母亲，而 第二部分的人物聚焦者则基本上是儿子保罗。叙事聚焦的转换使得人物形象更为鲜 明、更加立体化，也使读者可以直接了解到人物对于自身、他人及环境的认识和感 受。 第四章着力探讨儿子与情人的叙事方式。在现代小说理论中主要存在两种 我们忘记他的存在。他给我们讲述了这个故事的很多方面，即虽然是必要的，但又 不值得通过戏剧化加以升华的那些方面。而其综合效果是想让我们感到，他给我们 的故事，远比他把未加工的题材端出来所能成为的故事更优美更精制。至于“展示” 一方面劳伦斯十分注重环境和细节描写及具体事物的深入刻画，另一方面他不是通 过评论而是采用描写其动作来展现人物内心矛盾与性格。因此可以说，在叙述过程
