摘要 本文主要通过定性分析和定量分析研究了中国大学生议论文写作中衔接手段的 使用情况。首先，以某大学英语专业本科三年级学生议论文写作课的期末考试作文为 研究对象，然后从9 6 份答卷中随机抽取3 0 份作为样本进行统计分析。在分析过程中， 借助韩礼德和哈桑的衔接理论中关于衔接手段的分类法，用以界定此次实验研究对象 的概念域。接着，提出此次实验的三个主要研究问题： ( 1 ) 哪些衔接手段的使用在高分组和第分组中存在明显差异? ( 2 ) 哪些衔接手段的使用与作文的质量密切相关? ( 3 ) 哪些衔接手段的使用对作文质量有显著贡献? 通过描述统计，从统计学的角度科学地得出英语写作中高分组和低分组在衔接 手段使用方面的主要特征；通过独立样本t 检验、相关分析和单因变量多因素方差 分析这三种推断统计方法，分别得出在衔接手段使用方面高分组和低分组的实质性差 别、衔接手段和作文质量之间的关系及衔接手段是否能决定学生的议论文的写作质量 的实验结果。 t 检验结果表明，三种衔接手段在高分组和低分组中存在明显差异。 进一步分析上述各衔接手段的分类后，发现比较照应、并列连接、原词重复、上 下义词、概括词在高分组和低分组无明显差异。其它分类均存在明显差异，但不同的 是，人称照应和指示照应在低分组中使用数量要明显多于高分组。 相关分析结果表明除了照应与作文质量无明显关系外，其它衔接手段与作文质量 均存在显著正相关关系。 在对上述各衔接手段的分类进一步研究后，发现比较照应、转折、原因、 时间 连接诃、同义词、和词汇搭配与作文质量呈正相关。人称照应与作文质量呈负相关。 其余不相关。 多因素方差分析结果显示词汇衔接对作文质量有显著贡献、其余贡献不大。 在对这些衔接手段的分类进一步研究后，发现人称照应、比较照应、时间连接词、 同义词和词汇搭配对作文质量有显著贡献、其余贡献不大。
