英汉新闻语篇衔接手段对比研究及翻译 摘要 衔接是语篇的一个重要特点。韩礼德和哈桑认为，一组句子能否组成篇章， 其决定性因素是句子之间是否有衔接关系，正是这种衔接关系造就了“篇章性”。 有关衔接的研究在国内国外都是篇章语言学的重要研究内容。2 0 世纪5 0 年 代兴起的篇章语言学进一步扩大了衔接的研究范围。在中国，衔接也是汉语修辞 学的重要组成部分。然而，中国的篇章语言学由于历时较短，大部分理论借鉴于 西方。尽管如此，许多学者在英汉衔接手段对比研究领域做出了杰出的贡献，这 对英汉翻译有很大的启迪。迄今为止英汉对比研究大多是对英汉两种语言进行概 括比较，然而不同类型的语篇自有其特点，它们对衔接手段的运用也不尽相同。 在其他学者的研究基础上，本文选择一种特定类型的语篇新闻语篇中的 照应手段作为研究对象，比较英汉新闻语篇中照应衔接的异同，以期对英汉新闻 翻译有所贡献。 本文所进行的研究是实证性对比研究。为了便于研究，建立了一个语料库。 为保证研究结果的科学性，研究过程中借助了e x c e l 和s p s s 统计软件。研究结 果表明英汉新闻语篇均运用大量的照应衔接手段，但其各自的频率却不尽相同。 其中最显著的差别在于人称照应和指示照应。基于研究结果，本文进一步提出英 语新闻语篇汉译过程中照应的翻译方法。 本文共有6 章。第一章为引言部分，简单介绍本研究的研究对象、研究方法 以及本研究的意义。 第二章为文献综述，总结了中外学者在衔接领域的贡献，其中包括中国学者 在英汉对比方面所做的探索与研究。该章首先回顾了篇章语言学的发展历史，继 而介绍了对比研究的相关理论。鉴于本文的主要研究对象为照应，在此领域的学 者们的研究成果得以概括总结。 第三章主要介绍本文的相关术语。首先明晰了衔接的定义，继而介绍了本文 的理论框架韩礼德和哈桑关于衔接和照应的理论。在韩礼德和哈桑的理论基 础上，胡壮麟、张德禄与刘汝山等对衔接理论做了进一步的研究，使该理论得到 v 进一步发展。 第四章为本文的主体部分，对英汉新闻语篇中的照应衔接进行详细的比较， 相关的数据和研究结果都在这一章呈现。该章首先对照应进行分类，继而对各类 在英汉新闻语篇中的衔接作用分别进行对比分析。结果证明英汉新闻语篇均采用 大量的照应衔接手段，人称照应出现频率最高，指示照应次之，比较照应在三类 照应中出现频率最低；由于新闻语篇中有大量的直接引语，第一和第二人称在此 类语篇中的衔接作用得以充分体现；英汉新闻语篇各自的照应体系也大体相似， 但也存在显著差别：英语中人称照应的运用频率大大高于汉语，且在指示照应体 系内，英语中的定冠词“t h e 在汉语中无对应项；此外，英语中“t h i s ” “t h a t ”和汉语“这”“那 既存在对应，也存在不同。本章对以上异同都进 行了详细的对比说明。 基于第四章的研究结果，第五章针对英语新闻语篇的汉译，对其中的照应衔 接的翻译方法提出初步建议。由于其差别主要在于人称照应和指示照应，该章对 这两类的照应翻译提出了简单的建议，包括人称照应的省略及重现、指示照应的 翻译策略等。
