接下来，本文通过对欧亨利短篇小说的总体把握与个例分析， 从八个方面挖掘出其作品中的现代主义元素，分别为：超现实主义 ( 梦境与幻觉) 、印象主义、荒诞笔法、先锋派( 形式试验) 、魔幻 现实主义、黑色幽默、象征主义以及其它现代主义手法，如隐喻和 记忆空白。 虽然欧亨利作品中所体现的现代主义并不成熟，但从历史的 角度看，欧亨利的作品在现实主义与现代主义之间起到了承上启
