摘要 乔姆斯基名词词组分类中的照应语( a n a p h o r ) 指不能独立指称， 必须回指某个主目语( a r g u m e n t ) 的词语，汉语反身代词“自己 就属 于这类词语。汉语中的“自己 在分布和指称上与英语等西方语言中 的反身代词有许多不同之处，因此成为国际理论语言学界的一个研究 热点。汉语“自己”的独特性主要表现在以下几个方面：它可以接受 长距离约束( 1 0 n g d i s t a n c eb i n d i n g ) ，似乎在寻求先行语( a n t e c e d e n t ) 时 不受什么句法限制( x u1 9 9 3 ) ；在寻求先行语时还表现出英语反身代 词回指时所不具有的主语倾向性( s u b j e c to r i e n t a t i o n ) ；“自己”在进行 长距离约束时存在阻断效应( b l o c k i n ge f f e c t ) 。很多学者将这三种特 征归结为句法特征，认为可以用纯句法理论来解释。除此之外，“自 己 在用法和分布位置上也表现出其独特性，如“自己的强调用法， 泛指用法，以及出现在主语、宾语、定语等位置。 鉴于“自己”一词复杂的特征，国内外许多语言学家从不同的角 度，用各种理论对其进行过研究，如早在上世纪八十年代，国内外语 言学家( w a n g & s t i l l i n g1 9 8 4 ，m a n z i n i n w e x l e r 19 8 7 ，b a t t i s t e l l a 1 9 8 9 ，p r o g o v a c1 9 9 2 ，t a n g1 9 9 2 等) 在乔姆斯基的管辖与约束理论框 架内试图寻求一种纯句法的解释，但都不能充分说明汉语“自己一 词的特征，因为事实证明“自己”一词确实存在许多无法用句法解释 的特征。于是有人( h e l l a n19 8 8 ，x u19 9 3 ，p a n19 9 7 ，c h e n19 9 2 ，h u a n g 1 9 9 1 等、) 尝试通过语篇、语义和语用来解决以上问题，但因其理论缺 乏说服力，最终也未能详尽地剖析“自己。为此，我国许多研究者 结合r e i n h a r t & r e u l a n d ( 1 9 9 3 ) ，p o l l a r d & s a g ( 1 9 9 4 ) 和x u ee t a 1 ( 1 9 9 4 ) 的综合句法和非句法的角度对反身代词进行研究的方法分析 汉语“自己 ，取得了一定成效。 本文认为句法和非句法两种因素都对解释“自己 的特征起着重 要的作用。只有从这两个方面去研究才有可能找到解释“自己”的正 确答案。汉语语法有一条总的法则允许反身代词“自己与它所在的 各从句的主语共指，且不违反乔氏的约束原则，而非句法( 语用、语 义和语篇) 的因素同时也在影响着这一法则，所以非句法的因素也不 容忽视。当我们在句法理论中找不到对“自己”的合理解释时，就会 在非句法的因素中寻找原因。于是汉语反身代词“自己应分为两类： 句法性反身代词“自己 ( s y n t a c t i cr e f l e x i v ez i 1 i ) 和非句法性反身代 词“自己”( n o n s y n t a c t i cr e f l e x i v ez i j i ) 。那些表现出上述三种特征( 即 受长距离约束、主语倾向性和阻断效应) 或者隐性地呈现出这些特征 的“自己 是句法性反身代词，而表现出不同的特征的是非句法性反 身代词。 本文用特征核查方法( t h ef e a t u r ec h e c b n ga p p r o a c h ) 对句法性反 身代词特征进行研究。基于r e i n h a r t 和r e u l a n d 研究中的可取之处， 我们认为在一个核查域内，反身代词“自己”在本句的述谓结构中核 查其形式特征，若与本句主语的特征一致，则可进入到上一层述谓结 构中进一步核查其形式特征，若与本句主语的特征不一致，则“自己 与上一层主语的核查受阻。特征核查理论还对汉语“把”字句和“被 字句中的“自己”进行了比较满意的解释。非句法性反身代词的解释 则涉及到语内传递现象( 1 0 9 0 p h o r i c i t y ) 。语内传递概念是由话语中的三 个更为基本的初始角色交互作用形成的。这三个初始角色是：“来源 ( r e s o u r c e ) 、“自我 ( s e l f ) 与“基点度”( p i v o t ) 。“来源 是指话语的 发出者或话语交际中的行为者；“自我 指话语中心理状态及意识描 述的对象；“基点度 是指示的中心，是一个物理意义上使用的术语： “如果某人以玛丽为基点度进行叙述，那么那人便被认为是站在玛丽 的位置上”。 关键词：长距离约束，阻断效应，特征核查，语内传递 a b s t r a c t i ti sw i d e l ya s s u m e dt h a tc h i n e s er e f l
