实严峻性的同时，索尔贝娄以自己悲天悯人的情怀，超越社会的表象，去思索 存在，探索人类走出精神沼泽的出路。他的作品内涵丰富，闪耀着人文思想的火 花，给人以思想的启迪。被文学界誉为当代名著的勿失良辰是贝娄的第四部 小说，本论文旨在以“追寻存在的意义”为主题来剖析此部小说，感悟贝娄对人 生存在意义的界定。 论文由五部分组成。 绪论部分概述了贝娄的生平、创作生涯，简要介绍了勿失良辰的故事大 概、文学界对该部小说的评价及其“在困境中追寻有意义的存在”这一主题，并 从哲学基础与民族文化背景方面分析了促使贝娄执著地探求存在的价值和终极 意义的两个因素。存在主义是2 0 世纪西方影响最大的社会哲学思潮之一，反映 了现代人对存在的困惑，并尝试着以个人的“自由选择观”给在荒诞世界中苦苦 挣扎的人们指出一条可能的出路，启示人们摆脱异化，摆脱此在的沉沦，回归到 人的本真状态。另外，贝娄出身于犹太移民家庭，接受过正统的犹太教育，所以 深受犹太文化传统的影响。犹太教教义充满人道主义和希望，强调人的存在是神 圣的。在小说中，贝娄也对犹太文化进行了潜在的联结，把犹太人作为人类的代 表或象征，从而对整个人类的生存境遇进行了深入地探讨。 第一章主人公存在的困境。现实世界混乱、荒谬，整个社会物欲横流，传统
