Students can thoroughly understand the meaning of once, twice, three times, etc.Ability aims:1. Students can use the sentence pattern “How often do you?” and “Whats your favorite?” in their conversation.2. Students can improve their speaking ability by pair work and role play.Emotional aims:Students will know how to express how often they do something and their favorite activity.II. Teaching key and difficult points:Students can properly use the sentence pattern “How often do you?” and “Whats your favorite?” and the phrases such as twice a week, go to the movies, etc.III. Teaching methods:communicative language teaching method; task-based teaching methodIV. Teaching procedures:Step 1: Warm-upSay hello to everyone and then show some pictures ,ask them questions, ”Can you describe what is happening in the picture?” and lead in the topic of todays lesson-How often do you exercise?Step 2: Pre-listeningLearn the new phrases: read English books, use the Internet, go to the moviesby using the sentence pattern “How often do you ?”Step 3: While-listening1. extensive listening: Listen to the tape for the first time and ask students the following question: How often do you exercise?2. intensive listening: Listen to the tape for the second time and do the exercise on 2a-match the activities with the frequency they do it. Listening for the third time, students should fill in the chart on 2c.Step 4: Post-listeningPair work and role play the conversation on 2d. Then ask two pairs to show their role play in front of the blackboard.Step 5: Summary and homeworkSummary: ask a student to summarize what we have learned today;Homework: make a new conversation with the sentence pattern “How often do you?” and “Whats your favorite?”V.
