摘要 隐喻一直是专家学者们所关注的一个话题，其研究历史己长达两千多年。本 文按照识别( i d t i 丘c 越i 蛐) 方法的不同，将隐喻理论分为四类：语义学隐喻观、 语用学隐喻观、认知学隐喻观以及批评性隐喻分析观。通过比较四种隐喻理论的 主要特点，指出批评性隐喻分析观具有兼容并蓄的特点和较强的系统性。这种隐 喻观包含了其他三种隐喻观的优点，并且认为在语篇层面上研究隐喻，必须结合 语义学、语用学以及认知语言学三个方面的知识。 从亚里士多德开始，人们已经对隐喻进行了多方面的研究。这些研究包括隐 喻的分类、特点、现实、经验基础以及其基本功能。但是，很少有人研究过隐喻 在语篇中的功用，即在语篇这个层次上隐喻的作用。一些语言学家如m c o 叫 ( 1 9 7 5 ) 、g i b b s ( 1 9 9 4 ) 和l 丑k o f f ( 2 0 0 5 ) 已经指出隐喻具有语篇功能，但是他们并 没有对此进行详细的分析，更没有把隐喻放到特定语篇中来探讨隐喻的语篇功 能。近些年来，虽有l a k o f f ( 2 0 0 5 ) 把认知隐喻引入到政治语篇中来，但是他只 是把隐喻作为一个分析性工具来帮助我们更好地理解政治语篇中所隐含的意识 形态和价值观。b l a c k ( 2 0 0 4 ) 曾采用批评性隐喻分析( c r i t i c a lm c t l p h o r a r l a l y s i s ) 的方法对政治语篇中的隐喻和概念隐喻进行了统计分析，但局限的是他也没有系 统地阐释隐喻在语篇中，尤其是在政治语篇这个特殊语篇中的功能。本文将以批 评性隐喻分析( c r i t i c a lm 呦p h o ra n a l y s i s ) 为理论基础，在前人研究成果的基础 上尝试性地探讨隐喻在政治演讲这种特殊文体中的特殊语篇功能。 由于政治演讲的多样性及复杂性，本文只选取历届美国总统就职演说作为语 料。从g w 酗h i n g t o n 到gw b i l s h 共有5 5 篇就职演说。本文的研究主要分为 两个阶段：第一，详细阅读这5 5 篇演说，参照批评性隐喻分析观对隐喻的定义， 找出其中所包含的隐喻，并按照始源域的不同，对其进行分类；第二，通过对这 些隐喻的分析，讨论其在英语政治演讲中的作用。结果表明，在这5 5 篇就职演 说中，共有1 0 种概念隐喻和6 ，5 6 4 个隐喻。在政治演讲中，这些隐喻通过控制 词语的选择，起到了衔接( c o h 髓i v e ) 和连贯( c o h e r c n t ) 的作用：通过它们的框 架( 鱼匝i n g ) 功能以及对读者( 或者是听众) 的价值观( v a l u e s ) 和情感( e
