哈尔滨工程大学硕士学位论文 摘要 翻译不仅是两种语言之间的传递，更是两种文化之间的传递。而对文化 因素的翻译往往是翻译从业人员所要面对的主要难题。文化缺省是构成这一 难题的重要因素之一。文化缺省是指作者在与其意向读者交流时双方共有的 相关文化背景知识的省略。 本文通过分析比较中国古典名著“红楼梦 的两个英译本中对文化缺省 的翻译，探讨了在文学翻译中处理文化缺省的一些途径和方法。通过分析可 以看出每种处理方法都各有其优缺点，而且在具体的翻译过程中到底采取哪 种办法还要取决于作者的意图、读者的要求、翻译的目的和文本的类型等因 素。文学作品翻译的主要目的应该是促进文化交流，而译文读者也希望通过 阅读能够欣赏到他国文化并从中有所收益。所以在翻译文学作品中的文化缺 省时应尽量保持原文的文化特色。各种翻译方法应互为补充，以直译为主， 必要时加以注释，而其他方法为辅。
