摘要 世界上有多种不同的语言，在漫长的人类历史中，各种语言在不断发展，它 们的地位也不断随之变化。一些语言逐渐强大并l | d i 据优势，像英语；而有些语 言则退出文化中心并且逐渐销声匿迹，像拉丁语。本文尝试从一些语言发展变化 的例子中分析部分影响语言地位的因素，并且找出其普遍规律。这里也借鉴了约 瑟夫奈教授提出的硬实力与软实力一说。这样，在处理文化和语言竞争的问题 上会更加清晰明确。 另外，在这个全球化的时代，英语作为- - i j 强势的语言，正在世界范围内扩 张，并威胁其他语言的生存。一些本来使用人数就很少的语种已经或濒临消亡。 即使像汉语这样在世界舞台上影响日渐扩大的大语种也不免受到英语的渗透。汉 语中越来越多的字母词就是一个很好的证明。字母词也引发了大家的争议。一方 面这是对外开放过程中吸收先进文化的必然，另一方面字母词又在一定程度上破
