摘要 本文题为“从1 3 8 4 至1 4 2 5 年伦敦英语看中古英语后期正式文体中的多重 否定句”，以中古英语后期多重否定处于衰退阶段以及正式文体较多采用多重否 定这两个规律为着眼点，通过分析1 3 8 4 至1 4 2 5 年伦敦英语集前三章多重否定 旬的语法特征，旨在揭示中古英语后期正式文体使用多重否定句的情况。在结合 丹麦语言学家耶斯佩森的否定周期定律和日本语言学者家入叶子对中古英语诗歌 多重否定句研究理论的基础上，本文选取研究学者较少问津的伦敦英语为研究对 象，对其前三章涉及有法律诉讼文献、商业行会报告及英格兰国王亨利五世颁布 的英法战争相关法令为语料，试图探讨十四世纪末至十五世纪初多重否定句在正 式文献中的具体使用情况。 本文一大特点是把文体特征与多重否定的使用结合起来，从历史语言学研究 角度出发，在阐明多重否定句自古英语起源到中古英语衰退的发展历程的基础上， 通过后期中古英语文献分析处于衰退阶段的多重否定在正式文体中的应用，并结 合先前文献研究结果及本文的数据统计检验多重否定的应用。 分析过程中，本文主要从以下五个方面入手：伦敦英语中单一否定及多重否 定的使用比例、多重否定句中完全否定句与特殊否定句的使用、多重否定句中绝 对否定词n e v e r 、非肯定词a n y 以及情态动词和助动词的使用情况。在对比研究和 数据分析的基础上，本文得出以下结论：文体特征对伦敦英语中使用多重否定句 的影响很大，虽然宏观上看，多重否定在中古英语后期已处于衰退阶段，但在伦 敦英语这一正式文体中的使用却仍具有一定活力；多重否定较多使用特殊否定句 型，并使用绝对否定词n e v e r 和非肯定词a n y 增强句子的否定意义：助动词如构 成的单一否定句在此期间尚未成型，而多重否定句则较多使用其它助动词和情态 动词。 关键词：伦敦英语，多重否定，正式文体，绝对否定词n e v e r ，非肯定词a n y a b s t r a c t o nm u l t i p l en e g a t i o ni nl a t e rm i d d l ee n g l i s hf o r m a ld o c u m e n t s ：w i t h p a r t i c u l a rr e f e r e n c et oab o o ko f l o n d o ne n g l i s h1 3 8 4 -
