硕士学位论文 m a s t e r st h e s i s 内容摘要 1 9 7 9 年，f l a v e l l ( 1 9 7 9 ) 首先开始了关于语言学习者的元认知知识的详细研 究，并把学习者的信念视为元认知的一个部分。元认知的知识建构被公认为是 应用语言学研究中最重要的变量之一。此间，与众多语言学家们开展的关于学 习者的策略的研究相比，关于元认知和学习者信念的研究少了许多。直到2 0 世纪8 0 年代，学者们也仅仅局限于对学习者的信念的理论性研究，比如，1 9 8 7 年，h o r w i t z ( 1 9 8 7 ) 开展了对大学语言学习者的信念的调查；同年，w e n d e n ( 1 9 8 7 ) 也收集了关于成人英语学习者的信念的相关数据。到了9 0 年代，学者们开始 了元认知及学习者的信念的深入研究，提出了它在学习效果及教学法等方面的 重大影响。应用语言学研究的学术期刊“s y s t e m 1 9 9 9 年第2 7 期就是一个很 好的例证，这一期收集了众多语言学家关于元认知及学习者信念的系列研究论 述，其中，w h i t e ( 1 9 9 9 ) 探讨了学习者的期望的发展；h o r w i t z ( 1 9 9 9 ) 研究了学 习者信念的发展；c o t t e r a l ( 1 9 9 9 ) 与y a n g ( 1 9 9 9 ) 就学习者的信念对学习过程及 效果的影响进行了分析。 尽管对于元认知知识及学习者的信念的研究已经引起了国内外外语界的 重视，但在中国这个外语学习大国中，在应用语言学研究领域专门针对中国大 学生中英语学习者的信念的系统研究似乎并不常见。2 0 0 0 年，武和平( 2 0 0 0 ：3 ) 在国外外语教学第二期中发表了一篇名为元认知及其与外语学习的关系 论文，首先引入了关于元认知知识与学习者的信念对外语教学的影响的研究。 2 0 0 1 年，文秋芳( 2 0 0 1 ：2 ) 在外语教学与研究第二期中发表了名为英语学 习者的动机、观念、策略的变化规律与特点论文，对学习者的某些信念作了 更为细致具体的分析。在此前后，谭顶良( 1 9 9 5 ：5 ) 、胡斌武( 1 9 9 6 ：9 ) 、郝玫( 2 0 0 1 ： 2 ) 和秦晓晴( 2 0 0 2 ：1 ) 等外语教育界人士也提出了学习者的动机、策略、风格及 情感等因素在英语教与学中产生不可忽视的作用。 在这些专家学者研究的基础上，笔者决定借助于前人关于学习者的信念的 研究的理论和方法，通过问卷调查的方式，对四所普通高校( 海南大学、华南 硕士学位论文 m a s t e r st h e s i s 理工大学、武汉理工大学和湖北师范学院) 1 7 2 名本科学生的英语学习信念及 其作用展开深入调查，并运用定量分析的方法，有代表性地具体分析中国大学 文、理科学生在英语学习的信念上表现出来的种种异同。 本次调查问卷主要参考了h o r w i t z ( 1 9 8 7 ，1 9 8 8 ) 设计的“b e l i e f sa b o u t l a n g u a g el e a r n i n gi n v e n t o r y ”( b a l l i ) 并结合中国学生的实际情况作了适当的 修改。通过调查调查，并对研究的数据统计借助于s p s s 统计软件处理，可以 发现： ( 1 ) 文化交流与语言渗透在英语学习中起到重要的作用； ( 2 ) 中国英语学习者相对于交际任务来说更加重视词汇的学习，以及反 复多次的训练； ( 3 ) 文科学生对于自己的语言学习结果要比理科学生更加乐观； ( 4 )
