摘要 十九世纪末唯美主义的代表人物奥斯卡王尔德，以其颠覆性的 美学观点以及对这些观点不遗余力地切身实践而著称于世。他的这种 颠覆性的基础不在于声嘶力竭地呐喊口号，而表现为妙语连珠的智性 写作。他的写作兼具机智与深度，反对实用主义盛行下的维多利亚时 代社会和文化上的弊病。作为一名文学家和美学家，他深切意识到了 人类精神上的危机，在探索出路时提出了艺术独立于生活、用艺术来 改造生活的观点。这种观点体现了他所提倡的审美态度：审美主体应 与审美客体保持一定的距离。 本文试图运用“心理距离 说对王尔德的长篇小说道连葛雷 的画像进行分析，探讨王尔德关于“艺术与生活存在距离关系的 美学理念在其文学创作中的具体实践，进而阐明这种美学理念的意 义。作为文学家，王尔德因剧作而蜚声文坛，但其美学观点却集中体 现在小说道连葛雷的画像及其序言中。序言是王尔德艺术观点 的直接表达，而在小说主体叙事中则或明或暗地体现了这些观点。这 种文学理论与文学实践紧密结合的形式也是与王尔德的艺术主张相 一致的。王尔德是最早强调批评精神和自觉写作的人物之一，他认为 艺术家也是批评家，艺术创作的同时也传达了批评精神。因此，他巧 妙地把自己的美学观点融入到文学创作之中，并通过对读者心理距离 的控制而试图使他们达到自己所提倡的审美状态。 王尔德的美学理念在本质上是提倡一种“距离的”审美态度，因 此首先本文要考查的就是何为审美中的“距离。英国美学家爱德 华布洛首次提出“心理距离”这一概念，认为介于审美主体与主体 感受或引起感受的客体之间存在一定的距离，即“心理距离 。在创 作或欣赏中，理想的境界是尽量减少距离但不使之消失。对象性质不 同和主体能力不同是影响距离的两种条件。我们正是以此理论为依 据，来探讨作为创作主体的王尔德是如何通过作为客体的作品来控制 读者的心理距离的。很显然，王尔德在把握距离方面的能力比作为欣 赏主体的普通读者要强得多，因此这使他控制读者的心理距离成为必 要和可能。 本文接下来分别从角色塑造、叙述视角和主题呈现三方面分析王 尔德如何通过道连葛雷的画像来控制读者的心理距离。在角色 塑造上，道连和他的画像作为一个整体相互作用，调整着读者的心理 距离；画家贝泽尔是王尔德的理想人物，更为明确地体现了作者的态 度，进而对读者心理产生引导。在叙述机制上，王尔德采用了全知视 角和人物的第三人称有限视角有机结合的方式，既保持了一定的客观 性又使读者能够在适当时机深入特定角色的内心，从而更有效地控制 了读者的心理距离。在主题呈现上，通过分析王尔德“艺术高于生活、 生活模仿艺术这种“距离的美学理念在小说中的体现，我们可以
