福建师范大学李霞硕士学位论文 中文摘要 内容提要 阅读是一种从印的或写的语言符号中取得意义的心理过 程。阅读也是一种基本的智力技能，这种技能是取得学业成功的先决条件， 它是e 6 一系列的过程和行为构成的总和。阅读理解能力的关键在于逻辑思 维。英汉思维方式之间存在着差异，在一定程度上影响了中国学生的英语 阅读能力。因此，研究英语阅读有必要研究英汉思维模式的差异。本文第 一部分分析了语言、思维和阅读的关系，指出阅读过程实际上是一个思维 过程；第二部分首先简析了造成中国学生英语阅读困难的原因，然后从哲 学角度追朔了造成英汉思维差异的根源，并分析了英汉思维模式的主要不 同之处以及各自在语言表达形式上的反映；第三部分分析了造成中国学生 英语阅读困难的其它原因。总之，对英汉思维方式差异的研究有助于我们 更加深入地研究英语阅读，从而得出提高中国学生英语阅读能力的有效途 径。 思维的载体，但受到思维的制约。英汉思维之间在某种程度上存在着较大 的共性，这是我们进行英语阅读的基础。由于英汉两个民族的思维方式存 在着较大差异，这给中国学生的阅读带来了较大困难。本文试图探讨英汉 思维模式差异在多大程度上影响中国学生英语阅读能力，以便能给他们提 供一些切实可行的提高英语阅读能力的方法或途径。， 第一章语言、思维与阅读理解的关系 本章详细讨论了语言、思维与阅读理解三者之间的关系，作为后面两 个章节的理论基础。通过探讨萨培尔一沃尔夫的语言论，我们知道语言和 思维之间的关系：思维是人脑的机能，是人脑对客观现实的能动反映；思 维与语言密不可分；语言是思维的载体并受制于思维；语言和思维之间的 根本区别是，语言具有民族特点，思维是全人类共同的。由于历史文化的 差异，产生了各民族思维方式的不同并体现在各自的语言表达形式上。阅 读活动实际上是思维活动，逻辑思维是我们阅读理解的基础，阅读能够促 进语言、思维的发展。 第二章英汉思维方式的差异 本文主要从地理和哲学观的角度追朔产生英汉思维差异的根源，然后 分析了英汉思维方式的差异及其它们在各自语言中的体现，最后论及英汉 思维差异对中国学生阅读理解的影响。 v 福建师范大学李霞硕士学位论文 地理环境是孕育文化的母体，同时也是孕育思维的母体。古代汉族人 生活在东亚大陆富饶的北温带地区，受到大自然的宠幸。他们可以从事农 业生产，生活比较稳定，与大自然处于和谐的状态。因此，汉民族自然而 然养成了一种天人合一、主客一体的哲学观。然而，印欧语系的民族长期 生活在干燥的平原和常年受海水冲击的沿海地区，自然条件十分恶劣，耕 种不能保证他们的生活。为了生存，他们只能从事贸易，长期在海洋中漂 泊，面对变化无常的海洋气候，逐渐培养了改造自然、征服世界的信念和 习惯。他们把人看作万物的主宰，其它一切事物都是自己要征服的对象。 因此，主客体的对立是西方哲学思维的基础，西方人擅长于分析性思维， 强调自由与个性。 英汉两个民族在思维方式上的差异主要表现为：分析型思维与综合型， 抽象思维与具象思维和客体型思维与本体型思维。分析型思维与综合型思 维之间的差异在语言上集中表现为：英语的形和和汉语的意合；抽象思维 与具象思维词句使用层面上的主要反映是：英语文章中抽象名词的使用频 率明显高于汉语；客体型和本体型思维的不同主要表现为：英语常用非生 物名词( i n a n i m a t e ) 作主语，而汉语一般用有生命的名词( a n i m a t e ) 作主 语。 总体看来，英汉语篇的确分别呈现直线型与螺旋式的逻辑特征。这从 根本上讲是中西方各自重综合与重分析的思维习惯的表现。所谓直线型， 就是先表达出中心意思，由此展开，或层层推演或逐项分列，后面的意思 都由前面的语句自然引出。中国的螺旋式，公认为以八股文的“起、承、转、 合”为典型：先宣称主题之重要，继而展开反复的论述，最后回归到主题并 对它再三强调。其根本特征显然是重复乃至不厌其烦地强调，即词语和结 v i 福建师范大学李霞硕士学位论文 构的复现与叠加。 表面上看是英汉语言的不同，对中国学生的阅读理解造成了困难。实 际上是汉语思维方式与英语思维方式的不同之处造成了英语阅读的负面影 响，因为思维方式的差异是在语言结构中反映的。所以说英汉思维方式的 差异造成了中国学生英语阅读的困难。 第三章影晌中国学生英语阅读能力的几点要素 本章首先简述了阅读的重要性，然后分析了影响中国学生英语阅读能力 的几点要素。笔者认为：掌握充分的英语词汇和英语语法是进行阅读的前提 条件；健康的生理和心理基础是英语阅读的基础；拓宽知识面并进行大量的 英语阅读实践才能使我们具备英语文章修养，从而培养起分析、欣赏英语文 章的能力；最后强调逻辑思维是决定中国学生英语阅读能力的决定性要素。 结论 显然，荚汉思维模式的差异在一定程度上对中国学生阅读理解造成了 困难。作者在文中阐明了自己观点：虽然语言具有民族个性，但思维规律
