图式理论在大学英语听力教学中的应用 学科专业：英语语言文学 指导教师：孙太副教授 研究方向：语言学与现代英语 研究生：杨红梅 内容摘要 f 听力在日常生活中是被用的最为频繁的一种语言能力。在外语教学中它也是非 常重要的，是四种必须掌握的语言技能之一。听左理解一直被认为是一种被动的过 程。事实上，听力是一种积极主动的过程。在听的过程中，听者想获得的是对说话 者所说内容的理解。要达到这种理解，听者需要利用背景知识，语境线索和依靠许 多学习策略来完成。积极的听者会利用背景知识，带着目的去理解说话者的意思。 目前，中国大学英语听力课教学质量普遍较低，尤其是非专业英语听力，还存 在着一些问题。听力教学的模式常常是“讲讲单词、放放录音、对对答案”。在听 的过程中，学生是被动的接受者，没有任何背景知识的提示。许多学生认为上听力 课太痛苦，太枯燥。他们常抱怨听力课对他们帮助甚少。这种教学严重挫伤了学生 的主动性，妨碍了学生的学习兴趣和创造力。这样的听力教学并没有培养学生的听 力技能，更像是在考学生的听力。 针对以上问题，r 本篇论文以图式理论指导听力教学为研究课题，分析了图式理 论以及在英语听力理解过程中的应用。图式理论的首倡者b a r t l e t t ( 1 9 3 2 ) 和后来的 r u m e l h a r t ( 1 9 8 0 ) 都认为听者的背景知识对他理解新的文章起着关键的作用，也就是 说听者利用以前所获得的知识去理解新的课文。听者以前所获得的知识就是听者的 背景知识。背景知识包括听者以前所学的各种知识，如语言知识、社会知识、文化 背景知识、生活常识等等。这些背景知识的结构就叫图式。图式知识一般分为三类： 语言图式、形式图式、内容图式。从图式理论的角度看，听力理解的过程是一种互 a b s t r a c tv 动模式，它包括自下而上与自上而下两种结合的互动模式。根据这种模式，听力理 解过程就是听者的背景知识与所听课文相互作用的过程。因此，图式理论对听力教 学有着指导意义。在听力理解过程中，听者应该激活自己的背景知识，并利用它们 来理解新的课文。昕者的图式决定他要理解的内容，理解的程度，以及能否理解。 图式的激活和具体化取决于课文中某些关键线索，而且对听力理解的成功十分重 要。 根据以上的理论，有一些教学原则可以用来指导教学，如提高语言知识水平， 听大意和选听细节相结合，增强文化意识，培养听力策略等。在实际听力教学中， 图式理论被应用于听力教学的三个阶段开展不同的教学活动。在“听前”阶段进行 图式激活，“听时”阶段进行图式具体化，“听后”阶段进行图式强化。其目的是利 用图式理论有效地指导听力教学。同时通过试验，得出结论：图式理论应用于大学 英语听力教学行之有效，能够提高学生的听力理解水平和语言交际能力。上一 本文共分六个部分： 第一部分为引论，论述了听力的重要性以及大学英语听力课的教学质量直接影 响学生的听力学习，同时提出图式理论能够指导大学英语听力教学，并能有效地应 用于听力教学的各个环节，提高大学非专业英语听力教学效果。随后本章勾画了全 文的布局。 第二部分介绍了听力理解的本质，认为听力理解过程是一个融入了听者认知能 力的一个主动性过程。阐述了影响听力理解的因素，以及目前中国大学英语听力教 学中所存在的问题。 一 第三部分较为系统地介绍了图式理论，包括图式的定义、分类、图式的激活和 具体化以及交互模式，同时还阐明了图式理论对听力教学的启示。 第四部分探讨了依据图式理论指导听力教学的一些原则。 第五部分论述了图式理论在听力教学中不同阶段的具体应用，并举例说明如何
