摘要 本论文对英语和汉语的问候语进行了对比分析，不仅评述了在语言交际中它们的共 同特点，而且分析了在实际应用中的区别。通过仔细观察和一系列研究，确定了制约问 候语使用的礼貌因素和社会因素。本论文表明，尽管制约礼貌的原则具有普遍性，但是 体现礼貌的语言形式则是因语言而异的。对问候语的使用在跨文化交际中的实际问题的 分析表明，有必要在体现礼貌的言语行为方面展开深入的跨文化交际研究。 问候语是日常会话交际中必不可少的一部分，我们问候别人时，首先考虑的就是礼 貌问题。那么具有不同文化背景的人在互相交际时所赋予这些准则的熏要性是否会有差 异? 因为跨文化交际在很大程度上与交际者对这些准则和策略的恰当选择有关。例如， 是倾向于直截了当、开门见山的方式还是婉转间接的方式来达到交际目的就是一个常被 涉及到的、存在于英语国家和东弧文化之间的交际策略选择差异。b r o w n 和l e v i n s o n ( 1 9 8 7 ) 认为，在社会交往中，人们用语言所体现出来的礼貌是有原则的，也是有差 异的。这些原则要求交谈者符合总的礼貌行为；同时，由于人们所处的文化环境不同， 对礼貌的衡量和评估标准也不尽相同，而这些不同的衡量标准也会影响交际者在谈话策 略上的选择。为了解释英汉两种不同文化对于礼貌原则选择的差异，以克服跨文化交际 障碍，本论文以l c h ( 1 9 8 3 ) 的礼貌原则( p o l i t e n e s sp r i n c i p l e ) 和顾日国( 1 9 9 2 ) 的 礼貌准则( p o l i t e n e s sm a x i m s ) 为基础，对英汉问候语进行调查和研究。 问候语中的礼貌也受到社会因素的制约。w b l 矗0 n ( 1 9 8 6 ，1 9 8 7 ) 从社会语言学的 角度就入际关系距离等社会因素对言语行为的影响进行了研究和探讨。结合大量的话语 文化学研究，总结出言语行为的膨胀理论( 塘b u l g et h c o r y ) 。w o l f s o n 主要以称赞、邀 请、拒绝、不满、致谢等言语行为为例说明膨胀理论的特点。关于人际关系等社会因素 对问候言语行为的影响，w j l f s o n 只是简单地总结了其他学者的研究成果。而且。所有 这些研究都是以西方文化为基础，并不一定具有普遍性。本论文通过对问候语进行实验 研究，试图检验w b l f s o n 的膨胀理论能否表达问候言语行为与社会文化因素的关系，膨 胀理论在东西方文化中是否具有普遍意义；并探讨膨胀理论框架下英语和汉语问候语在 实际应用方面的差异。 本论文的研究目标主要为： ( 1 ) 根据l e e c h 的礼貌原则，顾日国的礼貌准则与w b l f 如n 的膨胀理论来讨论制 约问候语使用的礼貌和社会因素，调查英汉礼貌在语用和文化价值上的差异。 ( 2 ) 比较英汉问候语的特点及异同，说明英汉问候语在使用上的区别。 本论文第一部分综述有关问候语的判断标准、会话结构、功能，尤其是制约问候语 使用的礼貌和社会因素等方面的研究。 第二部分评述l e e c h 的 l 貌原则和顾曰国的礼貌准则，以及w b l f 如n 的有关社会距 离制约问候语使用的膨胀理论，通过这些理论框架来确认英语和汉语问候语使用策略的 各种制约因素。 t 第三部分介绍本研究的语料收集和研究方法。 第四部分讨论研究结果。 ( 1 ) 结合顾日国的礼貌准则与l e e c h 关于礼貌的论述对英汉问候语语料进行比较， 对问候语的研究结果证明了顾日国的观点贬己尊人是中国特有的礼貌准则，并且是 中国现代礼貌观念的核心。 ( 2 ) 结合w b l 彝 0 n 的膨胀理论，对些英汉问候语语料进行分析。以社会距离为 控制因素，描绘出受试者对不同被问候者使用问候语的平均百分比，从而确定社会因素 对问候言语行为的制约作用，并证明了膨胀理论能够表达问候言语行为与社会距离的关 系，英语和汉语的问候语在应用膨胀理论方面是一致的。比较英汉问候语在应用膨胀理 论方面的异同及其文化因素。 ( 3 ) 对英汉问候语中的称谓进行比较研究。结果表明，人际关系距离因素在汉语 问候语中表现得更明显。 ( 4 ) 结合本研究发现进一步探讨英汉问候语在常规用语和实际应用中的差异。研 究结果表明，尽管问候语的本质是相同的。但其语言表达方式却是大有区别的。通过对 比分析，我们发现英语和汉语的问候语至少有四个方面的差异：命题内容，等同问候语， 句子结构和形式以及合作性的应答。 跨文化交际中问候言语行为的使用所体现的文化差异和实际问题表明理解不同语
