Filial piety in China Confucius, a greatest and most famous philosopher,His ideas are still a significant influence on various aspects of Chinese culture today,business world ,education system,modern family life I think the biggest influence that Confucius brought to us are the impact on modern Chinese family life. Confucius said , “A youth should be respectful of his elders” The respect that young people show toward their parents,grandparents and other older people is called filial piety. As the requirement of filial piety, on the one hand,most children are expected to follow their parents wishes and do what is the best for the family. And when the parents become old,and require care, the son will support the whole family and will take care of their parents.the needs of the family almost always come before the desires of individuals,almost everyone of the family are dutiful and try their best to devote themselves into the family. On the other hand,several generations of family members often live and work together, so that the elders wont feel lonely and the whole family are harmonious,Although the man become outstanding,He will not forget his family where he grew up and he can feel warm. Every Spring festival,my aunt who are live far from us goes back to my grandmothers home to have a reunion,because the filial piety have influenced her deeply. And another example of the impact of filial piety on modern Chinese family relationships are about me.Although I live far away from my parents and my parents are not too old now, I call them frequently to ask them to take care of themselves and I miss them every day. Every time,before I have to make a decision,I will solicit their opinions to show my respect for them.
