内容提要 作为自然语言中存在的一种独特语类，对于虚词t h e r e 的研究一直是语言学中各分支，特别是生成 句法学中的热门话题之一其焦点集中在虚词t h e r e 在存在存现句中的基础生成位置和它的句法定位 问题，然而迄今为止似乎仍未得到合理的解决因而对虚词t h e r e 进行再分析就显地十分必要了，并且 也是十分有价值的一件事 本文共包括五个部分，其理论框架为最简方案，特别是语段推导 第一部分为介绍部分，总结了存在存现句所显现的一些独特特征，指出重新考察虚词t h e r e 的必 要性和意义 第二部分回顾了前人对于虚词t h e r e 的研究和设想，指出了其存在的缺陷并质疑了这些设想 第三为理论框架，阐明了语段推导所持的语言观，考察了语段推导中的语段及可解释非可解释特 征，并从合并，移位，一致，论旨化外移和拼读五个方面对语段推导下的操作手段进行了论述， 在第四部分我们考察了虚词t h e r e 的非独立特性，从经验和概念两个方面解释了虚词t h e r e 和副主 语的特征。指出虚词t h e r e 的基础生成位置处于动词后的副主语位置，与副主语为一体同时我们考察 并比较了虚词t h e r e 与轻动词在语义和句法上的相似性，提出了虚词t h e r e 为轻名词的假设作为位置 填充词，只向句子贡献形式内容
