商务写作教材j 公司商务信函中模糊限制语的对比研究 摘要 本文运用v a r t t a l a 对模糊限制词的分类法对国内商务信函写作教材与国外贸 易公司实际商务信函写作中模糊限制词的运用进行了对比研究。本文提出了三个 主要研究问题： 1 国内商务写作教材与国外贸易公司的商务信函在模糊限制词的使用中是否 存在差异? ( 1 ) 如果有，模糊限制词在以上两种信函中的总体使用有何特点? ( 2 ) 不同的模糊限制词在这两种信函中的使用有何特点? ( 3 ) 不同性质的商务信函中 模糊限制词的使用有何异同? 2 造成模糊限制词使用差异的原因是什么? 3 本研究对商务信函的写作和改进商务英语信函写作教学有何意义7 本文收集了1 0 0 封商务信函作为语料，5 0 封信函来自最近几年出版的国内各 类商务英语写作教材，另外5 0 封信函来自以英语为母语的贸易公司。运用v a r t t a l a 对模糊限制词的分类法，采用对比的方法对语料进行分析，得出以下发现： 1 在国内商务信函写作教材与国外贸易公司商务信函中，模糊限制词的使用 都较为频繁，但模糊限制词在贸易公司的商务信函中的总体使用频率更高。 2 每一类模糊限制词在两种信函中的使用频率有差别，在国内商务信函写作 教材中使用频率最高的模糊限制词是副词，其次分别是实义动词、形容词、情态 动词、名词；而在国外贸易公司的商务信函中使用频率最高的模糊限制词是实义 动词，其次分别是情态动词、副词、形容词、名词。 3 模糊限制词在表达负面信息的商务信函中的使用频率略高于表达正面信息 的商务信函。 基于以上发现，本文对造成模糊限制词使用差异的原因进行了分析： 首先，由于模糊限制词具备的一些语用功能使得国内外商务信函的写作中都 使用了模糊限制词，但由于以汉语为母语和以英语为母语的国家文化背景存在差 异使得模糊限制词在贸易公司的商务信函中的总体使用高于国内写作教材中的商 务信函；其次，由于模糊限制词类本身的复杂性，特别是以汉语为母语者对情态 动词的使用难以掌握，加上汉语在语气上比英语更加直接，因此情态动词在国内 商务信函教材中出现的频率更低，相比之下，他们对副词和动词的使用更容易掌 握，因此在国内商务信函教材中更倾向于使用副词和动词；第三，模糊限制词在 表达负面信息的商务信函中可以使语言更委婉、含蓄、礼貌，并保全双方的面子， 而表达正面信息的商务信函在语气上更加直接，因此模糊限制词的使用较负面信 息的商务信函略低。 最后作者针对国内商务英语信函写作教学提出了一些建议，希望对商务英语 硕卜学位论文 信函写作教学和学生商务信函写作能力的提高有所帮助。 关键词：模糊限制词：商务信函：情态动词；实义动词 i i i a b s t r a c t t h i se m p i r i c a ls t u d yi sd e s i g n e dt og i v ea no v e r a l lc o m p a r a t i v ei n v e s t i g a t i o no f h e d g e si nb u s i n e s sl e t t e r sw r i t i n gf r o mh o m et e x t b o o k sa n df r o mc o r p o r a t eb u s i n e s s c o m p a n i e s i ti sc a r r i e do u tb ya d o p t i n gv a r t t a l a sc l a s s i f i c a t i o no fh e d g e sa n db r i n g s o u tt h r e eg e n e r a lr e s e a r c hq u e s t i o n s ： 1 a r et h e r ea n yd i f f e r e n c e si nt h eu s eo fh e d g e si nb u s i n e s sl e t t e r sf r o mt e x t b o o k s a n db u s i n e s sc o m p a n i e s ?
