哈代诗歌中的生态思想揭示 学科专业：英语语言文学导师：刘治良教授 研究方向：英美文学研究生：樊波 l 摘要l 英国伟大的作家托马斯哈代是文坛公认的描绘大自然的高手，他一生创 作了近九百首诗歌，其中包括1 0 0 多首是自然诗。从2 0 世纪7 0 年代起，哈代的 诗歌越来越受到读者和批评界的重视。唐纳德戴维在1 9 7 3 年出版的托马斯哈 代与英国诗歌中认为，哈代是现代英国诗歌中本质因素的丌创者和维护人， 对2 0 世纪诗歌产生影响的是哈代，而不是叶芝或爱略特。同样地，哈代诗中的 生态思想也必将越来越受到文学界和生态学者重视。达尔文主义成熟了哈代的 生态观。哈代等早期生态主义者的生态思想又直接或间接地影响了罗尔斯顿的 生态整体主义、卡逊的生态作品寂静的春天( 1 9 6 2 ) 的问世。 一方面，在哈代的作品中，人物和自然常常融为一体，自然的景色反映人 的面貌；但另一方面，哈代对待自然的态度是复杂的，因此，本文也从哈代笔 下的阴郁、冷酷、伤残和痛苦的自然入手，透视哈代自然诗歌的生态忧患感； 本文在对各种社会思潮的吸收和对众多的诗歌的详尽分析的基础上揭示了哈 代的反人类中心主义、理性文明和疯狂欲望的生态思想。自然生念诗歌中的整 体、和谐、刚毅与仁爱成为一个人文主义者的拯救社会的药方，从而折射出哈 代的生态理想。从某种程度上讲，哈代是一个人文主义者，但同时也是一个具 有生态意识的诗人。哈代对现实世界进行了彻底的无情地批判，从文学的角度 深刻地反映和批判了正在变化中的世界，提出人与自然和谐的美好理想，促进 人类对于世界发展的思考。人与自然的和谐相处，j 下在成为全人类的努力目标。 本论文共有四个章节： 第一章，概述。 本章包括文献综述，重点介绍国内哈代诗歌研究的状况，提出了自己对该 论文的设想以及研究方法和本文的学术意义。 第二章，分析哈代诗歌中的生态思想的形成根源。 首先分析哈代生态思想的形成根源。社会、经济政治的变革、意识以及文化 的变革影响着哈代的诗歌创作。哈代所处的时代呈现出各个领域鄙在飞速变化和 发展的特点一一从医疗、科学技术知识到人口增长和变迁。这样的快速变革深深 地影响了整个国民的心念：人们对经济蓬勃发展的喜悦与自信最终让位于对英国 的世界地位的困惑和怀疑。接着，作者对哈代诗歌中所具有的生态意识进行简略 陈述。 第三章，揭示哈代诗歌中的自然生态思想。 分析哈代自然诗歌中所体现出的诗人对待大自然积极和消极的态度，同时直 接或间接地比较了哈代的诗歌与浪漫派诗歌的区别与联系：哈代对大自然的态度 是极其复杂的。一方面他通过其诗歌中强烈地表达了他对大自然的热爱，崇拜之 情；同时他也意识到自然无形力量的存在，呼吁人类要遵守自然秩序，但同时他 也认为自然是残酷的，人类应该与自然和谐相处，因为人践踏自然会遭到自然的 报复。哈代把人类与其他生物视作同一有机体的组成部分，关注他们之间存在的 亲缘关系，这使得他成功地预见了二十世纪的生态整体观。从某中程度上说，哈 代自然观中的生态思想与我们现在所提倡的和谐社会极其吻合，在如今提倡持续 性发展的今天，对我们今天认识人与自然的关系都很有价值。其二，通过文本分 析，重点介绍哈代对人类社会的态度，以此证明哈代诗歌所蕴涵的精神生态思想。 由于哈代意识到自然的冷酷无情和客观，在他生活的特定的时期他产生了不同于 同时代意识形态相一致的认识。即他倡导生态整体观和反人类中心主义，他认为 应当将生态看成一个整体，人类不应该以自我为中心，破坏自然；反理性文明同 样是因为哈代意识到人类理性的反面而应当重视自然结果；虽然他的诗歌给人以 悲观主义气氛，但他却从来没有放弃过追求自然的美。本章节的结尾部分重点分 析哈代在对待动物的态度。从诗歌分析入手，我们可以看出诗人对世间万物的人 文主义关怀。 第四章，结论。 在总结全文的基础之上，指出论文不足之处和将来研究哈代诗歌的重点，尤
