摘要 十七世纪英国诗人安德鲁吗维尔创造的诗歌在英国诗歌发展史中起着重要的作用。 他继承了伊丽莎白时代的浪漫主义传统，并开启了1 8 世纪古典主义的理性时代，所以他 的诗歌跨越了这两个时代，标志着从文艺复兴后期向古典主义的过渡。这其中，脍炙人 口也正面深刻的表达了诗人思想的当属花园一诗。这首诗是马维尔最为著名的一首 抒情诗。 在这首诗中，诗人通过运用三种矛盾的对立与解决，从沉思花园与现实花园，幽独 与人群，园林之美与女人之美，也向读者充分展示了自己对于自然的观点以及他所向往 的生活状态：“花园境界”。 在花园中，马维尔给读者描绘了一个“花园境界”。同时，这种境界是由一个现 实界的花园所引起的冥想产生的。这种境界的内容是宁静，天真，无邪，正如上帝创造 出夏娃以前亚当在伊甸园所享受到的那种孤独者的幸福。对自然之美的描述展示了诗人 的理想世界，同时又揭示了一个深刻的宗教主题。马维尔主要使用了提出矛盾，然后试 图解决矛盾的方法展开了这首诗。作者希望通过种种矛盾的解决而最终达到这个美好的 花园境界。从而深刻的剖析人生与自然的关系。 第一章陈述了沉思花园比现实花园的优越性。现实花园可以带给人一种很大 的感官愉悦，但是这种愉悦并不是诗人所向往的，他更加想得到的是一种心灵的愉悦， 而这种愉悦只有沉思才能得到。十七世纪英国诗歌中，花园常常被用于人们沉思的地方。 在现实花园中，人们通过沉思表达他们对崇高理想境界的追求现实花园是人沉思的地 方，同时也是实现花园境界的媒介。从现实行动的世界退隐，进入沉思的快乐，这是诗 人心目中快乐理想生活的象征。对于沉思花园的描述，正是马维尔向往的生活状态，这 种状态与自然有着密切的联系。 第二章阐述了幽独的生活状态比现实生活状态的优越性。幽静无邪的状态 和落前的亚当以及古希腊罗马神话中的黄金时代非常相似的。马维尔的人群指的应是已 经堕落的，学会了争名夺利的“人群”马维尔生活在充满战乱的英国，这时的英国经历了 革命和复辟，这种社会状态对应的正是在基督教旧约中黄金时代之后的人类。这里，马 维尔决不仅仅是对于“幽独”的赞颂词。他是一种对“无邪状态”的追求和颂扬。他在努力 寻求两者之间的一种密切的关联并将之与文化与宗教观念相连。 第三章园林之美与女人之美的优越性。诗人以情欲为主旨，把花园与女子 v i 相比，强调前者之美远胜于后者：代表女性之美的红白两色远不如花园之翠绿可爱而持 久。因为，女性之美距离永恒还有一步之遥，只有绿色的园林之美才能永恒。而这种永 恒也是马维尔所追求的，也是他自然观的一部分。马维尔在此使用巧妙的讽喻，通过借
