摘要 随着科技的发展和全球一体化的进展，专业英语饵s p l 的一个分支，科技英 语( e s t ) 变得越来越流行，也越来越重要。要翻译好科技英语文献，就必须吃透 其语言特点，找出其令人满意的汉译方法。 从语域的角度讲，可以说科技英语( e s n 属现代英语中的科学与技术语域。 它是一种科学和技术人员在特殊情境中使用的语言。 显而易见，科技英语有很多特点，其中某些特点有时会对理解科技英语文献 带来很大困难，大量运用省略结构就是一大障碍。 省略现象常常不被重视，本文作者认为它确实是值得注意的问题。本篇论文 致力于对这一主题的探讨。基于对科技英语中不同种类省略结构的研究，作者把 科技文体中的省略分为两类：结构性省略与上下文省略。本篇论文的重点放在科 技英语中较为常见的上下文省略上。对于该省略现象的一种对于学习和使用省略 结构特别实用的类别，即：一般性省略，本文进行了详细的分析和研究。在此基 础之上归纳出了各种省略结构的省略规则；并针对某些容易引起歧义的省略结构 做了深入的研究，提出了消除歧义的方法。该论文的最后一章，通过对英汉两种 语言运用省略的异同进行比较，总结出了省略结构的翻译方法。 本文主要目的是希望能通过对科技英语的一般性省略现象进行系统研究，提 出一些看法，希望能对科技英语的使用者和学习者处理该类现象有所帮助。 关键词：科技英语，一般性省略，结构性省略，上下文省略 a b
