摘要 本文旨在运用勒菲维尔的操纵理论，从历史描写的角度研究我国文学翻译策 略演变背后“看不见”的操纵因素。 近几十年来，翻译研究从传统的语言学领域上升n t 更为广阔的文化领域， 从而出现了“文化转向”。由此，文化和翻译之间的密切关系日益受到关注，很 多从历史、社会等宏观角度探讨翻译的理论也被应用于翻译研究。而对于直译和 意译的争论也演化为对于翻译策略，即异化和归化的辩论。事实上，异化和归化 可以被看作直译和意译在文化、政治和诗学层面上的延伸。 从翻译策略来分析，除了五四后的十几年。在十九世纪七十年代到二十世纪 七十年代的整整一百年间，中国的文学翻译大致是以归化为主调。然而在二十世 纪的最后二十年里，异化策略开始受到青睐，两种策略渐渐趋向平衡。 事实上，翻译活动除了受到一些显而易见的因素如原文特点、译者的个人价 值观、美学观和风格的影响，也被一些“看不见”的因素左右着。根据勒菲维尔 的操纵理论，这其中最主要的操纵因素是意识形态和诗学。这两种因素决定了译 者在解决诸如论域和语言表达之类问题时所采用的策略。 基于这些思考，本文作者将中国的文学翻译历史粗略地划分为五个阶段，尝 试探究各个时期特定的历史、社会背景以及由此决定的主流意识形态、诗学和论 域对于译者选择相应翻译策略的操纵，并以一些具有代表性的翻译家的翻译思想 和策略来进一步证实这些操纵因素的作用。同时，作者也指出了操纵理论存在的 局限性，并进一步得出结论：意识形态和诗学确实在较大程度上操纵译者的策略 选择，但是这种操纵不是绝对的。因此，在选择翻译策略时，译者在发挥主观能 动性的基础上还应该考虑特定历史时期下社会和读者的需要，因为翻译本质上是 文化交流的工具。 关键词：翻译策略、异化、归化、操纵、意识形态、诗学 a b s t r a c t t h i
