Power Electronics & Motor Drive EngineerDuties and Responsibilities Power Electronics & Motor Drive Engineer/Specialist is responsible for development and design of power electronics control for electric traction motors and power electronics targeted at hybrid and electric vehicle applications. l Work involves strong analysis and problem solving skills. Work tasks, objectives and assignment directions are provided by management but the ability to multi-task and work well in a self directed environment are required. l Generate technical solutions for complex controls of surface mounted and interior permanent magnet machines, induction machines, and other machine technologies. Generate technical solutions for complex digital controls. l Perform simulation and analyses of electric drive components and subsystems.l Plan and perform testing, development and calibration in dynamometer facility. l Support engineering design development to utilize advances in digital controls.l Work with design engineers and manufacturing staff to review new designs and provide succinct input for machine design improvements.l Interface with vehicle system customers. Write and evaluate technical reports and proposals. Requirements And Qualificationsl Ability to Develop and validate motor control algorithm in a real-time embedded environment. l 2+ years automotive engineering experience is preferred. Transmission and engine control or CAN-bus experience is a plus. l Solidly master dq0 coordinate system and its application on PM, induction or synchronous machines. l 3+ years motor drives & power electronics controls experience. Finite Element Analysis and CAE EngineerDuties and Responsibilitiesl Performing analytical & finite element structural analysis of mechanical parts and assembly for electric machines and power electronics drives in the automotive vehicle environment.l Perform steady and transient thermal FEA analysis of motors and electronics box for hybrid electric vehicles l Conceptual design of mechanical parts and interfaces for hybrid electric vehicle system. l Perform component FEA modal analysis and pre-stressed assemblys FEA modal analysis l Perform noise vibration harshness (NVH) analysis as well as product improvement.l Familiar with digital signal processing (DSP) technique, applied to time domain as well as frequency domain modal analysis, modal testing including hammer and shaker testing. l Familiar with strength of materials theory, elasticity and plasticity, thermal fatigue, mechanical cyclic fatigue, vibration system both discrete and continuous system and heat transfer. l Familiar with metal material properties for both mechanical and thermal property, such as silicon steel, carbon steel, grey cast iron, ductile iron, powder metal, aluminum casting and forging. Understand how to implement the property to FEA and design process for aid of product design and material selection l Familiar with Solidworks or any equivalent 3D solid package for modeling, assembly l Design test plan including test criteria, test method, sample repetition. Review test result and design change recommendation if applicable for product verification, validation or product improvement. l Able to explore new technology, develop new advanced analysis method to improve product analysis simulation.l Conduct various technical interchange meetings internally and with external team partners.Requirements And Qualificationsl A thorough understanding of FEA analysis methods and at least one year practices is required. l Demonstrated hands-on experience with ANSYS FEA analysis is also necessary. l Strong problem-solving and analytical skills are essential. l Knowledge on rotational electric machines and power electronics control.l Team player, independent working capability in the related areas, technology leadership. l Oral and written communication skills in Chinese & English language are a must.l Experience working in an electromechanical hybrid or automotive product environment would be an advantage.l Masters degree required; PhD preferred. Automotive Electric Machine Manufacturing EngineerDuties and Responsibilities l Coordinate prototype and/or low-volume manufacturing of automotive electric machines, including material sourcing, processing, and assembly. Need to choose proper equipment and cooperating partners or suppliers Ensure program timing and quality l Participate high volume manufacturing of automotive electric machines Investigate and recommend manufacturing location Develop requirements for plant and equipment. Develop investment budget. Develop Bill of Process. Estimate manufacturing cost and control the cost. Support Finance in developing and controlling overall product piece cost l Establish quality system and obtain ISO9000/TS16949 Certifications l Implement advanced production and quality systems such as Toyota Production System (TPS), Total Quality Management (TQM) and/or 6-Sigma. Requirements And Qualificationsl Bachelors degree or above. Electrical, Mechanical, Manufacturing or Industrial Engineering. l Minimum 5 year experience in electric machine production and quality system. l Automotive or automotive component manufacturing experience. l Familiar with electric machine production process, material, component sourcing, and quality control. l Familiar with domestic supply base of electric machine components. Have good relationship with major suppliers. l Excellent English reading, writing and oral communications l Highest standard of integrity. Honest, professional, self-disciplined. Electric Machine Design & Control EngineerDUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES l Electromagnetic design and analysis of electrical machines with lumped-parameter magnetic circuit and finite-element methods, including induction machines, permanent magnet machines, synchronous machines and other special machines. l Innovate new concepts in electric machines in speed-variable environment, and support customer quotes, development project, and production plan. l Support mechanical specialist in vibration, noise, and structural analysis of electric machines. l Develop new design program/tools for electromechanical systems. l Perform thermal analysis of rotating electric machines and components. l Assist in troubleshooting product failures in the lab and field and recommend design fixes. l Write lab and design procedures/orders as needed to carry out test and design functions. l Develop material specifications for electric machines (e.g., hard and soft magnetic materials, insulations, and structure materials). l Interface with customers to obtain design requirements and report design/analysis results. Requirements And Qualificationsl Solid electric machine theory and design background. Fully understanding of steady and transient electromagnetic field in electric machines. l Organized and structured work-style and attention to detail required. l Knowledge on machines dq0 transformation, power electronics inverter, converter, and phase controlled rectifier is necessaryl Knowledge on thermal, structural, vibration and noise of the speed-variable electric machines l Must be able to work independently, and/or serve as lead engineer in team working environment.l Oral and written communication skills in English language are a mustl Experience working in an electromechanical hybrid or automotive product environment would be an advantagel At least one year of electromagnetic FEA experience is requiredl Excellent background in using CAD or ProE, CAE, and programming languages like C/C+ or Visual-B, Matlab/Simulink etc. for electric machine analysis and design is required. l Ability to travel domestically and/or internationally at least 10% is required EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE l MSME/MSEE is required. Motor Drive Engineer for Hybrid Electric VehiclesDUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESl Define and verify functional and performance requirements for high-voltage electric drive components in hybrid electric vehicles and electric vehiclesl Design, realize and verify power electronics components such as frequency inverters and dc/dc-converters l Specify, propose and test packaging solutions, cooling concepts, IGBT selection, protection concepts and joining techniques for power electronics components l Develop microprocessor controller architectures, sensor and communication interfaces, gate driver concepts as well as EMC (electro-magnetic compatibility strategies)l Investigate and specify connector systems, filter design and DC bus bar architectures l Specify environmental and functional tests, define and support design verification methods for power electronics in dynamometer set-ups and vehicle tests l Support quality processes such as FMEA (failure mode effect analysis), DV (development validation) and PV (production validation), issue tracking and version control l Interface with suppliers, vehicles customers and partners to meet technical requirements, program timing and cost targetsRequirements And Qualificationsl Expertise in control of permanent magnet machine, induction machine, and synchronous machinel Fully understand dq0 transformation, Six-step, Sine PWM, Space Vector algorithms in motoring, generating and re-generating controls of electric machinesl Hardware experience in inverter, DC/DC converter, etc. is a plus. Project Engineer for Electric Motors and Hybrid Electric DrivesDUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESThis Project Engineer position is responsible for mechanical development of electric motors, electric drive-unit, or hybrid electric transmissions. Successful candidate will interface with colleagues, customers and suppliers in the development and support of hybrid-electric or electric propulsion systems. This position requires experience with specification, development, testing and validation of electric machines for vehicle traction drive applications. Detailed responsibilities include: l Specify, develop and validate electric motors (also to some degree, the power electronics motor drive as well as the systems)l Conduct mechanical design of electric motors with due care of quality, reliability and durabilityl Develop product drawings for prototyping and manufacture. Ensure manufacturability of designsl Analyze Reliability and Durability problems, initiate corrective actions, and resolve the problemsl Perform root cause failure analysis on mechanical and electro-mechanical systemsl Prepare and release drawings and engineering technical documentsl Provide product technical support to suppliers, customers as well as JJEs internal departmentsl Identify and develop opportunities for product improvements and cost reductionl Prepare and present product budgets, schedules and technical status reports.Requirements And Qualificationsl Proficient in mechanical and electro-mechanical engineering fundamentalsl Proficient in the use of mechanical design and analysis toolsl Working experience with mechanical development packages such as Unigraphics and ProEl Knowledge in motor drive application, transmission, and trouble shooting (lab and field)l Experienced in design and development of systems for automotive applicationsl Experience with heat, stress and vibration modeling tools (strongly preferred)l Highest standard of integrity.
