专八写作真题范文(97-10)1997Some people hold the view that a students success in university study follows the same pattern as that of fanning, which is characterized by the sowing the seeds, nurturing growth and harvesting the rewards process. Write an essay of about 300 words on the topic given below to support this view with your own experience as a university student.Sowing the Seeds, Nurturing Growth and Harvesting the RewardsSome people hold a view that a students success in university study follows the same pattern as that of farming, which is characterized by sowing the seeds, nurturing growth and harvest the rewards process. I approve of this statement. No pains, no gains, like that the saying goes. A person could only succeed through his own arduous efforts. No easy access to success existed in this world. The main task of students is to study. Studying at regular time can be compared to sowing the seeds, nurturing growth; then success to harvesting the rewards. Take me as a live example. Before I entered the university, friends surrounding me all said that the university was the paradise. After I was enrolled in, I thought that it was right time for me to relax. So I never worked hard as before, only spent most leisure time on shopping and surfing the Internet. Time flied fast, and the final exams came. I supposed that I could manage them smoothly depending on my cleverness. At last, I suffered great failure without saying. From that time on, I comprehended the true meaning of “sowing the seeds, nurturing growth and harvesting the rewards”. I was determined to nurture growth through my diligent study. And during that period, I realized that I could adapt to university life well. I spent less time on shopping, but emerged in the ocean of books. I browsed books like a hungry tiger to broaden my horizon. And finally the fact proved that it brought a profound meaning and directed a more bright future to me. The above best illustrates the essence of “sowing the seeds, nurturing growth and harvesting the rewards”. Everyone has to be diligent to advance toward his or her own goal. Sowing the seeds and nurturing growth is an arduous process, but harvesting the rewards is always cheerful.1998Nowadays with the development of economy, existing cities are growing bigger and new cities are appearing. What do you think is ONE of the major problems that may result from this process of urbanization? Write an essay of about 300 words on the topic given below. One Major Problem in the Process of Urbanization Since the ancient time, economic power has always been regarded as the foundation of all other matters. Nowadays, it is easier for one to sense the urgency of economic development. As a result, existing cities are growing bigger and bigger and new cities are appearing. Obviously, the development of economy brings people a big profit, and meanwhile a lot of trouble. In my opinion, pollution is a major problem resulting from urbanization . Every day people go through cars, buses, trucks and other vehicles which give out a lot of poisonous gases. In the office building, people are nearly closed in a tin day and night because they are surrounded by central air-conditioners. Fresh air is not allowed in. Whats more, there appear a lot of factories with large chimneys in big cities. Some chemical gases are released into the air constantly; they further worsens the air quality. In the past, bird chirping, bee humming and other pleasant sound could be heard everywhere in towns. Nowadays trees are cut down, fields are occupied, and animals have no home land. On the contrary, machines howl, vehicles horn and crowded people quarrel. One hears nothing but noises which bother peoples minds and interrupt the harmonious living space. With the development of economy, peoples life tempo is growing faster and faster with the rapid going of the big city. People have no more time to think of others, and they only care about themselves. They can discard rubbish anywhere. They turn the radio up enough to be unbearable to others. They can fight against others violently in order to relax their busy nerves. Therefore, pollution of this unique kind occurs To sum up, the urbanization has a lot of negative effects including pollution caused by air, noise and fast life pace mentioned above. Besides, other elements such as living environment should be taken into consideration for the sake of a long-time development of big cities.2000Education as a Lifelong Process When it comes to education, we can easily think of school, colleges and young people. In fact, education is so important in modern society that it can be viewed as a lifelong process. First, it is the requirement of fast-developing society to accept education as a lifelong process. Our world is changing dramatically with the development of new science and technology. A person who completed his education at school in 1970s or 1980s may have encountered new problems when he is working nowadays. The problemsmight have something to do with his major or other aspects concerned. For example an accountant now must master the skills of accounting through computers, which is the basic tools for him, so he should also learn how to do his job with a computer. Secondly, education creates human character and moralities. Through education, youth may learn how to make contributions to the world. And the old may acquire new things to enrich their lives. Through education, a healthy person can become stronger and a disabled person can have a new hope of his life. Man can find great pleasure by learning. Finally, modern society has provided everyone with various opportunities to accept education. As long as you wish, you could get education by attending night-schools, adult colleges, training centers and even long-distance education through Internet and TV. In one word, the primary purpose of education is not only to teach you how to earn your bread, but to make every mouthful sweeter. Knowledge is limitless, and life is limited. So education is a lifelong process.2001The Internet is about to take off in China. As many as 9 million people are online, a number that is estimated to hit 20 million by the end of 2000. It is predicted that this phenomenal growth will have great impact on our society and economy. Choose ONE aspect of our society or economy where you think the impact will be most strongly felt, and write an essay of about 300 words entitled. THE IMPACT OF THE INTERNET ON . The Impact of the Internet on Education The Internet is making the world smaller and is changing every aspect of our life. There can be no doubt that the Internet will have greater impact on our society and economy. The impact, in my opinion, will be strongly felt in the aspect of education. First, the Internet provides equal opportunities for all students, as long as they can get access to the Internet. In the traditional form of education, students who get higher marks in the examination may enter a better school, and those who do not have to enter a relatively less ideal one. With the Internet, every student is provided with the same source of education, so they can get equal opportunities to improve themselves. In this case, the quality of education will also be highly improved in our country. Second, the Internet poses a challenge, not a danger really to teachers. Tra- ditionally, teachers are the dominators of education, and students are subject to the instruction of specific teachers. This, in fact, may result in the laziness of teachers, since there is no competition in such a traditional teaching way. With the Internet, a student may select the instruction of any teacher as far as he or she likes it, which is an incentive to the faculty of teachers. Faced with this, a teacher is likely to try his best to improve his instruction and this will in turn improve the educational quality of our country. Last but not least, the internet makes education more convenient and efficient for the student. A student can learn at any time he likes and, at the same time, save themoney spent on tuition and board. All this may lead to a revolution of education reform. After all, I am not exaggerating the influence of the Internet on education . It is true that the Internet may still remain out of reach of someone and may be less amicable than human teachers. But the point is that the Internet is certain to accelerate the development of education. With the Internet, let us make the education of our country into a better existence!2003 An English newspaper is currently running a discussion on whether young people in China today are (not) more self-centered and unsympathetic than were previous generations. And the paper is inviting contributions from university students. You have been asked to write a short article for the newspaper to air your views. Love, and Then Be Loved In recent years, more and more teachers complain that their students are indifferent to others. Some even worry that the young generation might ruin the future of China. To be sure, many of our young people cannot see eye to eye with this view. However, as a university student, I myself would like to hold that we young people today are in general more self-centered and unsympathetic than our previous generations. To start with, the majority, if not all, of young people choose to attend exclusively to their own needs. In their eyes, it is all too natural to seek satisfaction from what they do, even if it may mean inconvenience to others. Take my dormitory for example. It is a common scene here that a roommate cheerfully talks to his girlfriend on the phone at midnight when others are struggling for a sound sleep. One may complain now and then, but to no avail. In fact, others, to the exclusion of me, live their dormitory life much in the same way. When I take a nap at noon, they often play cards. They have no regard for others. Life is a joy to them, yet they often enjoy it to the neglect of others feelings. In sharp contrast, our caring parents always pay heed to our needs and those of others. Whenever my father comes back home late in the night, he tiptoes in for fear that he might awake me. Moreover, young people tend to be insensitive to others difficulty. When a classmate falls ill, few people offer to help, but regard it as none of their business. Some students in my class come from poor families. Yet, they are active mobile phone users, who may spend twice as much as what their parents earn from arduous labor. When asked why they do so, they answer that their parents have the obligation to accommodate their expenses. Personally, I detest their answer, for I know my parents never thought that way when they were young. Being aware of their parents financial difficulty, they managed to save every penny they could. For the above reasons and those not mentioned here, I subscribe to the view that young people in todays China are more self-centered and unsympathetic than were our previous generations. It is high time that we learned from older generations so that a harmonious and splendid future can be anticipated. 2004It was reported in the press some time ago that a few second-and third-year students in a provincial university decided to try their hands at business in order to get prepared for the future. They opened six small shops near their university. Their teachers and classmates had different opinions about this phenomenon. Some thought that the students business experience would help them adapt better to society after graduation, while others held a negative view, saying that running shops might occupy too much of the students time and energy which should otherwise be devoted to their academic study. What do you think? Write a composition of about 300 words on the following topic: Should University Students Go in for Business? Should University Students Go in for Business? It is reported that an increasing number ofcollege studentsdecided to try their hand at business.Astothis phenomenon, peoples opinions differ. Some think it is beneficial for the students while otherssay itmayoccupy too much time andwould exert an pernicious impact on theirstudy. In my opinion, as long as we can strike a balance between doing business and studying, the advantages of the formerare obvious. To start with, it puts what we have learned in our universities into practice, which would help achieve more idealstudy results. Doing business is more complicatedthan we expected. It requires not only the knowledge we have learned in college but also the ability to apply them into practice. If you major in English, then you get a chance to improve your oral English, since you should communicate a lot with foreigners. In addition, you canmake use of what you learned in your writing lessons to write business letters, notices, reports and so on. If you are an accounting major, then your ability at numbers will be a great help. We study in the college onlywith the hope that what we learned can one day be useful in our life. Now if we are provided with the chance to apply them in our business, why should we not have a try?Secondly, doing business can help develop our social ability. Doing business means dealing with companies. Your personality, credit, and communication skills in particular, matter a lot. The ability to get others to trust you and make them willing to do business with you is crucial. After a lot of practices, surely you will become more out-going and mature. You may learn to get along with all sorts of counterparts and know how to bargain with them. In running your own business, your leadership will be more skillful and the management of your employees would be more and more efficient. All these will be your treasure when you graduate and step into the society.Ifproperly dealed with, doing business helpsimprove our study quality rather than put a negative influence on it. When you are engaged with your business, you will find there area lot of things you are not familiar with. They motivate you to study new knowledge or technologies. As a result, you are more likely to make full use of your study time in college.Undoubtedly, doing business is full of risk. To cope it well we not only need bravery and creativity but also requires knowledge and wisdom. We university students should study not only from our textbooks or our teachers but also from practice of the society.2005Interview is frequently used by employers as a means to recruit prospective employees. As a result, there have been many arguments for or against the interview as a selection procedure. What is your opinion? Write an essay of about 400 words to state your view. The Interview as a Selection ProcedureInterview, as an important means to recruit employees, happens every day in our modern lives. Most students have received or will receive one or moreafter their graduation. Popular as it is, an interview raises plenty of arguments. Some people regard it as an efficient way while others think it is impossibleto know a persons real ability and character in such a short time. In my opinion, it is a proper and effective way to recruit employees. To begin with, interviews provide employers as well as employees opportunities to learn about each other. In order to get the position, job hunters shouldpresenttheir excellent qualities and abilities and try their best to get the interviewers attention and appreciation. A number of questions are carefully designed by the interviewer tofigure out whether a candidate is qualified for the company or the position. Through the questions and answers, not only the job hunters abilities, characters and hobbies are revealed, but also what the companies can give to the candidates are known, such as their salary, career future and so on .Secondly the interview embodies the concept of fairness. In the interview, all the candidates face the same situation. They are questioned and scored by the same group of interviewers, whichmakes the selectionmore objective and democratic. Whats more, nothing else but personal ability matters and is the decisive factortoobtain the job.An interview is not only a procedure for companies to select new employees but also aprocedure for job hunters to select their satisfied companies. As to the right to choose, employees and employers are equal.Thirdly, interviews broaden the choice range ofbothinterviewers and interviewees. Companies that need a lot of talents can hold a big interview to lookfor the candidates they really want. Ifthey can not findenough, they can hold another. The interviewees, on the other hand, can attend several interviews to find the most appropriate companies in which they wish to work and develop. To sum up, interviews have many advantages and before any better means are created, itis thebest way to recruit employees. With the development of our society, it surely plays more and more important roles in making full use of the resources of talents.2006Joseph Epstein, a famous American writer, once said, We decide what is important and what is trivial in life. We decide (so) that what makes us significant is either what we do or what we refuse to do. But no matter how different the universe may be to our choices and decisions, these choices and decisions are ours to make. We decide. We choose. And as we decide and choose, so are our lives formed. In the end, forming our own destiny is what ambition is about. Do you agree or disagree with him? Write an essay of about 400 words entitled:Ambition Ambition is the decision one makes and the resolution with which he or she carries out tha
