Learn to talk about past events using the past continuous tense.Teaching Procedures:Step 1 Lead in:Great the class as usual&check their homework.Review the present continues tense.1st,get one s to go out of the classroom&some others to do different things.One play basketball &two skip in front of the class.Next, ask the Ss outside to come in&then ask the Ss to stop.Finally ask the class the Qs.What was sb doing when .come in ?What were .?Write the Qs &As,the words “was,were,came”in red.Get the Ss to read them aloud.These sentences are in the past continuous tense.They are used to tell us an on-going action at a past moment or in a past period of time.Get the class to compare the sentences in the present continous tense&the past continonous tense.Step2 Presentation:1.1a,talk above the pictures&try to use the structure:HeShe was in.when the rainstorm came.HeShe was in.was doing sth.Ask Ss to repeat after the T.2.1b,the T plays the recording the 1st time.Ss only listen.Pont to the people in the pictures as they hear about that person on the recording.Then paly it a second time .Ss circle the correct phrases this time&check the answers.3.1c,ask Ss to talk about the people in the pictures,ask several pairs of Ss to present their conversations to the class.Step 3.
