文档简介

Dear Jane ,I have already told you about the job I did last summer in the International Camp for children , do you remember ? And this year they are looking for people for the same job so I have thought about you . Why dont we do it together ?You will work with children between 8 and 12 and will help with the outdoor activities , sports competition and childrens games . The camp is situated in a wood , close to a river . Such a beautiful place is it that it is everyones dream to go there ! As is very exciting ,everybody sleeps in tents . We have only 5 hours work a day so it gives us enough free time to visit the area and do some sport activities on our own . As well as the accommodation , the food is free . It is not wonderful , but it is the most important .(The contact with children , the feeling of freedom , the sense of responsibility and the life in the nature make from this camp an unforgettable experience.)Let me know as soon as possible if you are interested in it , but dont hesitate too much , it is worth !I am looking forward to hearing from you soon .YoursLi HuaItwas7:15onthemorningofFebruary8,2000.ItwaswalkingalongParkRoadtowardstheeastwhenanelderlymancameoutoftheparkontheothersideofthestreet.ThenIsawayellowcardriveupThirdStreetandmakearightturnintoParkRoad.Thenextmomentthecarhitthemanwhilehewascrossingtheroad.Hefellwithacry.Thecardidntstopbutdroveoffatgreatspeedheadingwest.InoticedthedriverwasayoungwomanandtheplatenumberwasAC864.AbouttwominuteslaterIstoppedapassingcarandtooktheoldmantothenearesthospital.DearDick,Hownicetohearfromyouagain.YouwanttoknowwhatisgoingoninschoolsinChina?Inshort,thingshavebeguntoimprovesinceschoolswerecalledontoreducelearningload.Idontknowaboutothers,butIusedtohavetoworkevenatweekendsdoingendlesshomeworkandattendingclassesaswell.NowIhavemorefreetime.Icanfollowmyowninterestssuchasreadingbooks,visitingmuseums,andtakingcomputerlessons.IntheeveningsIcanwatchnewsonTVorreadnewspapers.Whatsmore,Icangotobedearlier.AsfarasIknow,everyoneishappyaboutthisnewarrangementofthings.Bestwishes,LiHuaDearEditor,Imwritingtotellyouaboutthediscussionwevehadaboutwhetheranentrancefeeshouldbechargedforparks.Opinionsaredividedonthequestion.60%ofthestudentsareagainsttheideaofentrancefees.Theybelievedapublicparkshouldbefreeofcharge.Peopleneedaplacewheretheycanrestandenjoythemselves.Chargingentrancefeeswillnodoubtkeepsomepeopleaway.Whatismore,itwillbecomenecessarytobuildgatesandwalls,whichwilldoharmtotheappearanceofacity.Ontheotherhand,40%thinkthatfeesshouldbechargedbecauseyouneedmoneytopaygardenersandotherworkersandtobuyplantsandyoungtrees.Theysuggest,however,feesshouldbechargedlow.Yourstruly,LiHuaDearBob,ImsogladtolearnthatyourecominginSeptember.Ivefoundaplaceforyou.Itsasmallflatof25squaremeters,withabedroom,abathroomandakitchen.Inthebedroomthereisabed,asofa,adeskandachair.Therentis500yuanpermonth.TheflatisinabuildingonFangcaoStreet,whichisnotfarfromJianxinChineseSchool.BusNo.11cantakeyoustraighttotheschool.Infact,itsonlyonestop.Doyouthinkyoudlikeit?Ifnot,Icantryandfindanotherplaceforyou.Justletmeknow.Yours,LiHuaJune3,2005DearEditor,Recently,ourclasshavehadaheateddiscussionaboutwhethertheBeijingZooshouldbemovedoutofthecity.Someofmyclassmatesareinfavorofthemove.Theysaylargecrowdsoftouriststothezoowillresultintrafficjams.Theyalsosaythatoncemoved,animalswillhavemorespaceandbetterlivingconditionsinthesuburbs.However,otherstudentsareagainsttheidea,sayingthattheBeijingZoo,builtin1906,hashistoryof100years,andiswell-knownathomeandabroad.Soitshouldremainwhereitis.Whatsmore,movingmaycausethedeathofsomeanimals.Whethertomoveornot,thisisabigdecisionwhichhastobemadebypeopleinBeijing.Yourstruly,LiHuaWelcometoBaishanMountainHotelBaishanMountainHotelisnowopenforbusiness.Ourhotelstands500metersawayfromtheentrancetoBaishanMountain.Ithas20singleroomsand15doublerooms,allwithhotshowers.Asingleroomis100Yuanandadoubleroom150Yuanforonenight.Youareadvisedtobookinadvance.ThehotelservesthreemealsadayandthereareChinesefoodandwesternfoodforyoutochoosefrom.Youcanalsoenjoyyourselfatthecafedrinkingteaorcoffeeintheevening.Wealsohaveaswimmingpool,whichisopenalldayandfreeofcharge.Allarewelcome!June8,2008DearPeter,ImgladtoreceiveyourletteraskingformyadviceonhowtolearnChinesewell.Hereareafewsuggestions.First,itisimportanttotake aChinesecourse,asyoullbeabletolearnfromtheteacherandpracticewithyourfellowstudents.Then,italsohelpstowatchTVandreadbooks,newspapersandmagazinesinChinesewheneverpossible.Besides,itshouldbeagoodideatolearnandsingChinesesongs,becausebydoingsoyoulllearnandrememberChinesewordsmoreeasily.YoucanalsomakemoreChinesefriends.TheywilltellyoualotaboutChinaandhelpyoulearnChinese.TryandwritemeinChinesenexttime.BestwishesDearSarah,ThankyouforyourletteraskingabouttherebuiltQianmenStreet.Hereissomethingaboutit.QianmenStreetisafamousstreetofover600yearsold.Alongthis800-metrestreet,therearemorethan300shops.AsthestreetisinthecenterofBeijing,justtothesouthofTiananmenSquare,itsveryconvenienttogettherebybus.YoumaytakeBusesNo.17,69or59.subwayLine2hasastoptheretoo.QianmenStreetisapedestrianstreet,buttherearetrolleycarstotakeyounotonlytotheshops,butalsototheatersandteahouseswhereyoucanexperienceatrulyChinesewayoflife,Imsureyoulllikeit.
