To arouse Ss interest in learning about neighborhood;2. To introduce the topic “A Social Survey My Neighborhood”;3. Get the Ss to learn some words to describe buildings;4. Let the Ss know how to show position and direction;5. Get the Ss to know some villages in western Europe.二.学习过程:Step 1 Leading-in and Introduction 1.Ask the students to look at the words in Activity 1 on P31. Decide which words can be used to describe buildings?2. Pair Work. Ask Ss to read the passage carefully, then try to answer me some questions. (1) Where do Zhang Hua and Lin Xiaoyun live? (2) Do they live in the centre of the city? (3) How many floors are there in Zhang Huas apartment block? (4) How many storeys are there in Lin Xiaoyuns house? (5) What is her house made of?3. Pair Work. Let Ss pay more attention to the phrases “in the south of China”, “in the northeast of”, “ in southern Liaoning”. Ask them to how to show the position and direction.Step 2 Function and speaking1. Pair Work. Ask Ss to answer the questions in Activity 1 on page 38.2. Pair Work. Make Ss work in pairs to discuss the questions on the slide. (1) How big is your flat / house? (2) Where is your flat / house located? (3) Is it close to your school? (4) Is it close to your parents place(s) to work? (5) Do you like your neighborhood? (6) Do you have good neighbors? (7) Are there parks or other public facilities nearby?
