(B)Section BDirections: In Section B, you will hear two short passages, and you will be asked three questions on each of the passages. The passages will be read twice, but the questions will be spoken only once. When you hear a question, read the four possible answers on your paper and decide which one would be the best answer to the question you have heard.Questions 11 through 13 are based on the following passage. Ok, everyone. May I have your attention? Im Bill Smith, director of the school play for this year. Its a great pleasure to have you as assistants to help organize the play. Im sending around a form for you to put down some information on how we can get in touch with you, so please put your name and phone down. Also please write down the performances that you will be able to help with. I realize that everybody cant come to each performance, but the more you attend, the better. However, you should also keep in mind that we will need much time, and we may end up staying quite late into the evening. If you have any special skills, it would be good for you to write those down on the paper as well. In particular, we need two lighting and sound people. We have hired one full-time lighting man, but one person cant do everything. We need several people to help out setting up the lights.Once you have all marked down any special skills you might have to offer, please return the form to me. At our next meeting on Tuesday, well begin talking about all the different jobs. While youre waiting for the sheet to get passed around. Ill be happy to answer any questions that you have today.Question 11. What will the listeners be asked to do? (B)Question 12. What can we learn about their work? (A)Question 13. What will the speaker do after the speech? (A)Questions 14 through 16 are based on the following passage.I come into work at eight oclock and the first thing I do is to collect my keys, then I go down to the common room, I sweep and I wash the floor and I also check the toilet and when theres no students in the classrooms, I empty the bins and do the rooms and I also help over the canteen to do teas and coffees, and I usually sweep the stairs and then wash them again and I leave off at two oclock. What I particularly hate is having to be at work at a certain time and leave off at a certain time and have to work to a pattern all the while, and also I do hate cigarette and dirty tissues about the floor. I think theres nothing more shameful that somebody got to pick a dirty tissue up that someones used and also to pick cigarette ends up that have been in other peoples mouths. If I were to get paid for every cigarette end I pick up I would be a rich lady. What I like about my job is I am free and easy. I work on my own and so I want to do something this day I do it, and if I want to do something the next day I do it. I find the students very friendly. They will come and talk to you in their breaks or any spare time, and they will tell you all about their countries, and its very interesting.Question 14. What is the speaker? (B)Question 15. What is the disadvantage of the job? (C)Question 16. Which of the following is NOT true about the students? (D)Section CDirections: In Section C, you will hear two longer conversations. The conversations will be read twice. After you hear each conversation, you are required to fill in the numbered blanks with the information you have heard. Write your answers on your answer sheet.Blanks 17 through 20 are based on the following conversation.W: Could I see the manager, please?M: Yes, Im the manager here. What can I do for you?W: Did you have the room checked before we moved in?M: Which room are you in, madam?W: 1808. The toilet doesnt work properly, the water doesnt run in the shower, but the tap was leaking the whole night, and there is water all over the bathroom floor.M: Im very sorry to hear that. These days weve been extremely busy with an international meeting. Ill check it right away.W: I never expected this sort of thing to happen in such a four-star hotel.M: I do apologize. Well change your room to 2003. It has a beautiful view of the harbour. And youll enjoy a three-day free stay in our hotel.Complete the form. Write ONE WORD for each answer.Blanks 21 through 24 are based on the following conversation.M: I see your resume that you worked as a manager of store called Computer Country, could you tell me a little more about your responsibilities there?W: Sure. I was responsible for overseeing about 30 employees. I did all of the orderings for the store.M: What was the most difficult part of your job?W: Probably handling angry customers. We didnt have them very often, but when we did, I need to make sure they were well taken good care of. After all, the customer is always right.M: Thats how we feel here, too. How long did you work there?W: I was there for three and a half years. I left the company last month.M: And why did you leave?W: My husband has been transferred to Boston and I understand that your company has an opening there, too.M: Yes, thats right. We do. But the position wont start until early next month. Would that be a problem for you?W: No, not at all. My husbands new job doesnt begin for a few weeks, so we thought we would spend some time driving to Boston and stop to see my parents. M: That sounds nice. So, tell me, why are you interested in this particular position?W: I know that your company is well known nationally for its good services.
