提出了 基于 蕴 涵和兼容这两个逻辑关系的情态动词语义语用框架 并探讨了 这些基本愈义如何 在不同的语境下使情态动词得到不同的理解 研究发现单义方法能够更有说服力 的解释不同情态动词之间的区别并能够用于解决多义和歧义观所不能解决的一些 难题 对情态及情态动词的研究可追溯到亚里士多德时代 从那以后情态就一直成为 哲学 语言学等学科研究的对象 语言学家从传统语法 语言哲学 语用学 语 义学等角度对英语情态动词进行过深入广泛的研究 但研究结果莫衷一是 各有 所长但都不能达成一致 从语义学来看 主要有歧义 多义和单义等方法 传统 释义法把所分析的句子与用来解释的句子等同起来 混淆了对象和释义 并且不 能解释话语的语用隐含等问题 歧义观无法解决 融合 和 无归类 等问题 传统的单义法将多义之分类泛泛划归语境却缺乏充分的语用理论的指导 本文认为情态动词编码的是程序性信息 只有一个基本意义 其在不同的句子 中有不同的理解是这个基本意义和具体语境结合的结果 情态动词本身并无歧义 和多义 歧义和多义是语用因素作用造成的 情态动词编码的是组涵或兼容的逻 辑关系并规定了与话语所表达的命题组涵或兼容的语境假设的命题域 全文由六章组成 内容摘要 第一章为引言 概述情态及情态动词 并解释相关术语 是为后面的论述的铺 垫 并提出了一个令人满意的研究情态的理论所应该解决的问题
