We can ask teachers for help when we have some d_ with our study.一 重难点辨析1.(p66) Some dinosaurs Were as small as chickens. 有些恐龙和小鸡一样小。as+adj./adbv.+as,与一样。第一个as后接形容词或副词的原形。如,He runs as fast (adv.)as his brother. 他和弟弟跑得一样快。He is as tall (adj.) as his brother. 他和弟弟一样高。2.(p66)Dinosaurs all died out suddenly. 所有的恐龙突然间全部灭亡。Die out 熄灭,绝种。 如:Many plants will die out these years. 这些年会许多植物绝种。联想: die of 死于(某种原因)。如,The little girl died of high fever. 这小女孩死于高烧。3.(p66) However,people learn about the lives of dinosaurs from fossils of their skeletons. 然而,人们能从恐龙的化石了解到恐龙的生活。learn about 获悉,得知。 About 后接名词,动名词或名词词组。如: Everyone in the city learnd about this bad news. 城里的每一个人都得知了这坏消息。 I am sorry to learn about your illness. 听说你病了,我很难过。4.(p66)He is famous for his cartoon characters such as Mickey Mouse,Donald Duck,Goofy and Snow White. 他因自己所创造的卡通人物如米老鼠,唐老鸭,高飞和白雪公主而著名。 be famous for (doing)sth. 因(做)某事物而出名。如: She is famous for singing and dancing. 她因能歌善舞而出名。The writer is famous for his books。 这位作家因他的著作而出名。区别: be famous as 以(某种身份)出名。Lu Xun is famous as a writer. 鲁讯作为一名作家而闻名。Lu Xun is famous for his works. 鲁讯因他的著作而出名。5.(P68)When he was 18,he began teaching history at university. 他十八岁的时候就开始在大学教历史。he began to study the Rosetta Stone. 他开始研究Rosetta Stone。 begin to do sth.= begin doing sth . 开始做某事。She began to play the piano at the age of 5. 她五岁时开始弹钢琴了。= She began playing the piano at the age of 5.6.(p66)Sometimes a mouse sat on Walts desk when he was at work. 有时小老鼠会在华特工作时坐在他的桌子上。 at work 在工作,在干活。这是一个介词词组。在句中需要加be动词。如: Dont talk with me when I am at work . 我工作的时候不要和我说话。 联想:(p68)When he was eighteen,he began teaching history at university.at university. 在大学教书或上学。类似结果的词组还有第一单元学过的at school 在上学。7.(p68)Ancient Egyptian was not a language with letters and words like English .古代埃及语不是一种和英语一样有字母和单词的语言。如在课文的p77,也有这样的用法。The giant panda has a chubby white body with black legs and shoulders. 这大熊猫胖乎乎的,全身白色,而它的四肢全是黑色。with 表示“有着特征的。”如:It is a thick book with 60 pages. 这本书很厚,有希望60页。8.(p68 )But Jean worked out its secret. 但是Jean 破解了它的秘密。 Work out 找出的答案。要注意的是,当词组接代词的时候,要把代词放在词组的中间。如:She can work out these difficult problems. 她能把这些难题都算出来。She can work them out.9.(p68) Today ,it is possible to understand ancient Egyptian 4,000 years ago because of Jeans discovery. 如今,由于Jean 的发现,去理解古代埃及语是有可能的。 句型:It is possible (for sb.)to do sth.(对某人而言)做某事是有可能的。 It is possible for us to learn a foreign language well. 要学好一门外语是可能的。 It is impossible (for sb.)to do sth. (对某人而言)做某事是不可能的。 It is impossible to live in the outer space now. 现在要想在外太空生活是不可能的。because of “因为”,后面接名词或名词短语。区别于单词 because.because 后面接的是句子。 如:We cant go shopping because of this raining day.We cant go shopping because it is raining day. 因为下雨我们不能去购物。10.(p69)Dr.Sun helped change China into a new country.在课本p74,有意思相同的一个词组 turninto He can fly and turn himself into anything. 他会飞并且能把自己变成任何东西。如:In such a cold day,water can be changed into ice.在这样寒冷的天气,水会变成冰的。11. What is the difference between ancient Egyptian and English? 古代埃及语和英语有什么不同之处? the difference between A and B “A 和B的不同之处” 如: Can you tell me the difference between “beside”and “besides”?你能告诉我beside 和besides 这两个单词的不同之处吗?联想: be different from 区别于有所不同。 如:“beside”is different from “besides”. beside 和besides 是不相同的。12.(p70)I have some difficulty with my paper on the languages of the world. 关于“语言的世界”这篇论文,我遇到一些困难。have some difficulty with sth. 在某方面遇到一些困难。如:They have some difficulty with the project. 他们在这个项目上遇到了困难。联想:have difficult in doing sth. 做某事有困难。 如:They have difficult in finishing the project.他们在完成这个项目上遇到了困难。13Neither the parents nor the children learn the language. 父母和孩子们都没有学习这种语言。 neithernor 两者都不连接相同的句子成分。如: He can neither see nor hear. 他既看不见也听不到。 当连接主语时,动词用就近原则。 即: Neither A nor B + V(B) 如:Neither the students nor the teacher is busy now.Neither the teacher nor the students are busy now.14.(p77),but it eats other plants as well.熊猫也吃别的植物。 as well “也,还”,用法与too 相当一般位于句子的末尾的 如:You can come to the party as well. 你也可以参加这个宴会。二 专项练习: 【Ex1】请用本单元的词组完成下面的句子。 这种鸟突然间全部灭绝了。This kind of bird all _ _. 这幅画和那一幅一样好看。This picture is _ _ _ that one. 演员因这部电影而出名。 Actors are _ _ this film 这礼堂可容纳至少一百人。This hall can hold _ _ 100 people. 这一岁的小孩会读书,也会写字呢。This one-year-old boy can read.He can write_ _. 孩子们能从这本书里了解到熊猫的生活。Children can_ _ the live of pandas from the book. 你能告诉我except 和 except for 的不同之处吗Can you tell me _ _ _ “except”_ and “except for”? 因为大雨杰克来晚了。Jack came late _ _ the heavy rain. 当铃声响起,我们就开始朗读课文。When the bell rings,we_ _ _ the text. 花园里满是鲜花和绿树。The garden _ _ _ flowers and trees.三 重点语法。(一) 指示代词。【形式】指示代词分单数(this/that)和复数(these/those)两种形式,既可作限定词又可作代词,例如: 单数 复数【限定词】This girl is Mary. Those men are my teachers.【代词】This is Mary. Those are my teachers.【用法】 1.当涉及辨认近物和远物时用this和that 加以区分。例如: This is a book.这是一本 书。(指近处物品)That is a car.那是一辆小汽车。(指远处物品)-What is that? 那是什么?(问远处物品)- It is a jeep. 它是一辆吉普车。2. 介绍放在一起的两样东西时,先介绍的用 this ,后介绍的用that. 例如:This is a pen .That is a penceil.这是一支钢笔,那是一支铅笔。3把某人介绍给第三者时,常使用“This is ”这一句型,其中this 不能换成he 或she.例如: Jim,this is my teacher,Mr Black .吉姆,这是我的老师,布莱克先生。3. 打电话,向对方介绍自己时要用“This is 。”询问或确认对方是哪一位时,可以说“Whos that?”(你是谁?)或Is that?(是吗?) 例如:-This is Kate .Whos that? 我是凯特,你是谁?- This is Jim. 我是吉姆。总之,打电话时习惯用this 指代自己,用that 指代 对方。(二) 可数名词与不可数名词。可数名词,可用单数或复数以表达数的概念的名词。可与具体数词连用,也可用 some,many,a number of 等修饰。问可数名词的量时用how many.如:three experts 三名专家,many competitions 许多比赛,等等。 不可数名词,不可用数目来计算的词。不能与具体的数字连用。一般用some,much,a lot of 等修饰。问不可数名词的量时用how much,如,some information 一些信息,a lot of water 许多水。【Ex2】 Excuse me,is _ your book? - No,It isnt .Mine is _one over there.A. this,that B.them,it C.that,this D.it,this Hello,_ May,May I speak to Jane? - Sure,hold on a minute.A. this is B.I am C.that is D.My name is Could you give me _,please?
