Unit1 Whats the matter?SectionA22dXieMa Middle School: Ren ShunliGood afternoon, Ladies and Gentlemen,Its my pleasure to stand here to share my teaching design about Unit1 in Grade 8B with you . Its a listening and speaking lesson. The content is Section A from2a-2d .I will divide my topic into five parts. They are Analysis of teaching material, Teaching and learning methods, Analysis of students ,Teaching procedures and Reflection.Part. Analysis of the Teaching Material Status and Function This lesson is the second period of SectionA. Its a listening and speaking lesson. This unit focus on a very important grammar pointshould. The textbook start with an interesting topic - whats the matter? By this way, it is great helpful to attract the attention of the students.Besides ,such a topic is related to our daily life, so it will raise learning interests of students and help them to improve their spoken English in class . Teaching aims and DemandsAccording to the teaching materials, I design the following objectives:Knowledge objectiveNew words:fever,lie,rest,cough,X-ray,toothache,headache,breakUseful expressions:lie down,take ones temperature,have a fever,take breaks,have a headacheAbility objective:Enable Ss to express sentences using target language.Moral objective:Improve Ss listening and speaking skills. Teaching Important points:To master the key words. To understand and use the target language. Teaching Difficulties :To enable the students to use the target language to give advicePart Analysis of teaching learning methodsTeaching methods1.“5p”teaching mode2.Task-based teaching approachLearning methods:The concept of new curricuium requires Ss to cooperation, explore learning.Part . Analysis of students The Students have learned English for a long time. So they can understand some words and some simple sentences. And ,this lesson is talk about health, body .Students have been interested in English now.So in this period,I will teach students how to be successful language learners.Part . Analysis of the Teaching Procedures Ill have this lesson in five steps, thats “5P”English Teaching Mode. Before my class, Ill divide my class into six groups, and then tell Ss we will have to compete in class. Which group did best?Step1 Preparation At the beginning of the class, Ill have a small talk to warm up and ask Ss whats the matter?Ill present some new words:1.Have a free talk with Ss Such as:Good afternoonHow are you?Its a nice day,isnt it?Im your new English teacher,you can call me Miss Ren。Purpose of my designing: Through the dialogue between teachers and students, song and a small talk, attract the students attention and create a relaxed atmosphere, It will be a good beginning of the new lesson. Step2 Presentation 1. Review the words and phrases ( 5 mins )a. Ask student A to point the body part of the student B. Let the rest of the students to guess the wordsb. I act out the illnesses, let the students to guess the illnesses in English。Use the pictures to review the dialogue in Section A. Lead in the new words. Suppose some situations to help Ss understand the language points . And Ill teach them to read the words .Then use some sentences to express after-class activities they like to do。Purpose of my designing: Through the vivid pictures , make students easily master the new knowledge, improve their abilities of listening and speaking, develop their communicative ability, it is the foundation of the next step. Step3:practiceA:Whats the matter? B:I have a fever/ headache/toothache。Work in pairs.I will encourage Ss to practice the dialogue and give them some points。Purpose of my designing: It will very helpful to develop the Ss ability of communicating and cooperation .Step4 Production1.Listen and finish activity 2a2b. .2. Listen and repeat the conversation .3. Ask Ss to work in pairs to finish 2c:A:Whats the matter? B:My head feels very hot。A: Maybe you should have a fever。I think you shouldB: Thats a good idea. I will let the grouper give us a report。Appraise by themselves ,by teacher , or by the group leaders. Choose the best group. Congratulate them and give them a flag.Purpose of my designing: Cheer for the winners, encourage students to take an active part in the competition, reflect the team cooperation spirit. Step 5 ProgressAnd the last, I will ask them to do the homework : Purpose of my designing:To check the knowledge that Ss have learned in this lesson.Blackboard Design: Unit1 Whats the matter?
