Sing a song after me “If you are happy.” In order to make the students active and finish part 42. Review the traffic signs and traffic rules by pictures , and let students try to use the adverbial clauses of condition to make sentence.For example:s:If we break the traffic rules ,well get a fine.S:If we dont drive carefully ,we may get hurt.T : If we obey the traffic rules ,we may be safer.T: There are lots of cars in Linhe, so the traffic in Linhe is crazy. So it is an important thing for us to obey the traffic rules , isnt it?3. Lead to 1 A, make a survey “how do you usually come to school?S: By bike/By bus/By carT: I go to school by bike, because the traffic in linhe is crazy ,and I think it can save energy and reduce pollution .In fact , riding bicycle is a good sport ,more and more people take part in it. Some of them became famous cyclist. Do you know any of them?Ss.T:Great !Today ,we are going to learn one of them . The great cyclist Lance Armstrong. He made achievements at Tour de France, Do you know more about him?(let students talk about him)4.Let students say something about “Tour de France ”then I show a short passage about “ Tour de France ”Step2 Presentation1. Let the students skim 1A, find out the new words and words in the box above the passage.2. Let students look up the word in the box in the dictionary . Help students choose the correct meaning according to the context.3. Learn the new words. Teach “middle”,“path”,“till”and “certain”, using their synonyms ,teach “head-on”. “comeback”, using wors-formation. Learn and master “courage”, “middle”, “path”, “success” , “smooth” , “lead” , “certain” . Understand “challenge”, “till” .Know about “head-on”, “comeback”.4. Let the students read 1A again , and answer the following questions.(1) Who is Lance Armstrong?(2) Was his path to success smooth?(3) How did he deal with the challenges in his life?(4) How many times did he win the Tour de France?5. Let students see the Flash of 1A, and follow it, and imitate the pronunciation and intonation. By 1996, he was one of the cyclists in the world. But his path to success wasnt smooth. Later that year, he had a cancer,and he stopped riding .But Lance faced it head-on .In 1999, he led his team to win the Tour de France . From 2000 till 2004 he went on winning it. In his life he beat his six records. Lance Armstrong is the greatest cyclist in the world.1. Let the students discuss: “What can we learn from lance Armstrong?” Encourage students to face unhappiness head-on in life. Encourge them to overcome difficulties and deal with bad moods in life just like what songs in 4.Step4 Practice1. Let the students read 2.Get the main idea and guess the meaning “final”, “result” “superstar”.2. Let them listen 2, and fill in the blanks listen again ,check the answer.
