It is mainly about introducing age, height, weight, abilities now and before. The content is close to students life and its easy to arouse students interest in learning English. This lesson includes two parts:Learn to sayandTry to use. Insection1, itmainly dealswiththe text and in section 2, it provides somenewwords and key sentence pattern.After learning this lesson, students will be able to introduce their own age, height, weight, ability and so on. Besides that, students will be able to write a composition about their friends. Analysis of the students:MystudentsareinGrade6. AfterlearningEnglishformore than 5 years,theyhavesomebasic English background knowledge. Itisnotdifficultforthemtounderstandthelanguage.SoIshould attach importancetothecommunication withthem,providingthemthechancesofusinglanguage fluently and flexibly.However, the students in Grade 6 are not so active in class, so I will try many ways to arouse students consciousness of competition so that they will be active in learning English.Teaching Aims:Knowledge Aims:a. To enable studentstounderstand and masterthesewords “weigh, grow, cry, smile” and the sentence pattern “Im 160 cm tall.”b. To enable students to use the simple past tense, the simple present tense and the simple future tense correctly. Ability Aims: a.To enable students to get useful information fromthetext through attentivelistening and reading. And then introduce their own age, height, weight, ability and so on.b. To foster students ability of communication and innovation. Emotion Aims: a. To foster students consciousness of good cooperation and proper competition. b. To call for students to show more filial piety to their parents.Key point:To help students master the new words and sentence pattern through a lot of practice. Difficult point:How to lead students to use different tenses to introducetheir own and others age, height, weight, ability by studying independently as well as by cooperation.Teaching Aids:PPT,tape, cards, childhood photos.Teaching Methods: Task-based and Communicative teaching methods.Teaching Procedures: I. Warm Up 1. Greetings. 2. Free talk. T: Well have an English composition contest today. Do you want to take part in it? Ss: Yes. T: If you do well in the composition contest, I will give the beautiful presents to you. So try your best, OK? Ss: OK.T: In order to make the contest easy, I will show an example to you. Look at the whiteboard. Lets play a guessing game first. There are some childhood photos of you in my hand. Guess: Who is she? S1: Zhao Xinxin? T: No, guess again. S2: Zhou Xiurong?T: Yes! How clever you are! She is. .(At last, I will show a childhood photo of mine and ask students to guess who she is. If they cant give the right answer, I will give some hints.)T: Its me. I was very fat in this photo, right? And I changed a lot. You cant recognize me. 【设计意图】创设作文大赛的情境,让学生在情境中学习。通过猜照片,激发学生的参与热情,充分调动学生的学习积极性,将学生的注意力都集中到英语学习上来。T: How old was I in that photo? Ss: .years old? T: Right! I was 2 years old in the photo. How tall was I? (用手势帮助学生明白是在问身高) You will need the word “centimeter” (教学生centimeter的发音,板书I wascm tall并让学生跟老师读句子.) S3: 50 cm? T: No, guess again. S4: 55 cm? / 60cm? T: Bingo! I was 60 cm tall. (指着板书句型慢读,让学生感知并记忆老师是如何用完整的句子介绍过去身高的) T:The last question. How heavy was I? (师站在电子秤上) You may guess: 10 kg? (教学生kilogram的发音,板书kg. 。) Ss: 10 kg? /11kg? /20 kg?. T: Maybe its difficult to guess. Let me tell you the answer. I weighed 15kg. Do you know“weigh”? Whats the meaning? S5: 重, 称重。T: Well done, boy. Follow me, please. Weigh, weigh(将I weighed板书在kg 前面)I weighed 15 kg. (让学生跟读句子) 【设计意图】让学生跟读句子,可以让学生对本课将要学习的内容有大致的了解,并且能帮助学生掌握用一般过去时作自我介绍的方法,为下面的学习做好铺垫。 II. Presentation 1. T: Let me introduce myself to you. Listen carefully. I was 2 years old in this photo. I was 60 cm tall and weighed 15kg. Now, I am 30 years old. I am 165 cm tall and weigh 50kg. 2. T: Im growing fast, right? Can you introduce yourself now? Please introduce yourself to your partner. Maybe some of you are not familiar with the words. Read after me again.(将板书的句型中出现的新单词重新复习一遍。) 【设计意图】学生小组合作前先解决单词及句型问题,让交流变得容易些,让学生们能够更顺畅地交流,提高学生们的交际能力。 4. Self-introduction. (让学生通过板书提示,能够熟练介绍自己过去及现在的年龄身高和体重等) III. New Lesson 1. T: Our friend Li Ming also wants to introduce himself to us. Lets listen to it together, OK? S: OK. 2. Listen to the text and fill in the table about Li Ming.AgeHeight(身高) WeightWhat he could do3 months old7 years old13years old 【设计意图】通过填写表格的方式,可以训练学生的阅读能力。 (填表中会出现cry 和 smile两个新词,板书,带读,做动作让学生猜词义)3. Read the text after the tape.4. Read in groups. 5. read the text paragraph by paragraph in three groups. IV. Extension 1. Introduce Li Ming by own words. (教师带领学生看着板书句型及照片提示,将文章转述为第三人称,介绍他人的文本) 2. Ask ss. to introduce Li Ming in groups. 3. Have a show. (每小组推选一名学生介绍李明,看哪个小组做得最好, 给予奖励。) 【设计意图】学生们都想得到礼物,所以会争先恐后介绍自己, 这样可以调动学生的热情,避免课堂气氛枯燥。 4. Group Discussion. Survey the information of your good friend, and fill in the table about your good friend. 【设计意图】通过小组讨论,询问最好朋友的相关信息,然后从介绍自己到介绍自己的朋友,设计有梯度性,训练了学生的综合语言运用能力。 5. Write a composition about your best friend. (教师在PPT上展示写作模板) 6. Have a show. (用数据展台展示学生的作文) 7. Announce the winners in the contest. Give presents to the
