However, I cant have a rest.however /conj with adj or adv 引导让步状语从句However much he eats ,he never gets fat.However rich people are, they always want more.However hard he worked ,he was fired.5)start / start to do /start doing 下列三种情况只能用三start to doa) 当主语是物而不失人时:The ice starts to melt.b) 当用于进行时态时:She is starting to cook the dinner.c) 当start 后的动词是指心理状态和精神活动时(think, realize, wonder, understand)She started to wonder who had done it.start with 以开始 The meeting started with a national song.end (up) with The meeting ended up with an international song.6) for a moment/ at the moment/at any moment /for a moment7)ask for 要求得到,要求见到 例:He sat down and asked for a cup of coffee.他坐下来要了一杯咖啡。 Some person is asking for you at the gate.门口有人要见你。 比较:ask sb. for sth. 向某人要某物 They asked the waiter for their bill.他们向服务员要账单。 8)When drinking to someones health, you raise your glasses时间状语从句,句中省略了you are 完整形式为when you are drinking 例:When working with the workers, we learned a lot from them. 当when, while, until, if, unless等引导的状语从句的主语与主句的主语相同时,从句中的主语及部分谓语可省略。 9)drink to 为干杯,为祝酒 drink to ones health 为某人的健康干杯 Lets drink to our friendship.为我们的友谊干杯。 10) fashion 时尚,流行,潮流 follow the fashion 赶时髦 in the fashion 正在流行 out of the fashion 过时,不流行 11)too much意为“过于、太多”,做定语,后接不可数名词,还可单独使用做主语、表语、状语。 例:You are asking too much.你问的太多了。(作状语) Im afraid Ive put you too much trouble. (作定语) I cant finish the work in 2 days, its too much for me.
