unit2 witnessing time word powerthoughts on the design:本节课是词汇学习课,要求学生了解英语中的希腊语词汇。英语在其发展的过程中吸收了大量的外来词汇。希腊文明对西方文明产生了巨大的影响,同样地,希腊语也为英语贡献了大量的词汇。学生通过这些词汇的了解,可以提高词汇学习的策略,从而提高学习的效率。谚语也是词汇学习的一部分,让学生欣赏一些希腊的谚语,帮助学生更多地了解希腊文化。teaching aims:after learning this part, the students will be able to recognize some borrowed words from greek. and thus they will be able to learn the vocabulary more effectively. meanwhile, some greek proverbs are appreciated in this period.teaching procedures:step 1 revision tell the students: the acropolis is just one of the many monuments listed by unesco as a world heritage site. can you identify where the following world heritage sites are?explanation通过讨论世界文化遗址激活主题,引导学生复习了前几个课时刚刚学过的知识,重点复习了部分国家和世界文化遗址名称。 step 2 brainstorming tell the students: in the previous period, weve learned something about greek architecture.weve learnt that no one had a greater impact on western civilization than the ancient greeks.similarly, the greek language has also influenced the english language. there are a lot of english words derived from greek. can you list some examples?activity: pair workthe students can refer to the article in the textbook or share what they have already known.explanation将课文复习自然地过渡到词汇学习,同时激发学生已有知识。通过讨论,学生互相学习,从而提高学生合作学习的能力。step 3 vocabulary learning 1. now read the passage in part a and find out the answers to the following questions: what words does greek contribute to the english language? (words related to science, sport and many everyday words.)why are there so many scientific words that come from greek?
