Ask the students What are these doing? Revise other verbs the students know using the pictures or mimes, e.g. drawing or painting, playing football and other games, eating, swimming, watching TV.3. Write the verbs for the activities. Ask the students What do you want to do this weekend? When they give me the answer, say OK./ Good idea. Lets go to4. Show Transparency. Ply the Pupils Book Cassette and point to the speech bubbles. Ask the students to repeat after the cassette.D. ConsolidationFind out what the students are going to do at the weekend. Tell the students to read the letter again. Ask them to complete Tims notes about Allans hobbies by writing either likes or doesnt like next to each of the activities. 6. Explain to the students that each sound that is used in English has a special way of being written down. This is because we only use 26 letters for normal writing but there are 44 different sounds used in the spoken language. E.g. Letter a says different things in these words: apple, play, arm, camera, hair, etc.2. Write the symbols for long or short I on the board. Explain that they have no names, only a sound. The sound can be write in many ways. Write the words on the page under each symbol. Ask the students to tell me other words with the same sounds and add them to a list.3. Play the Pupils Book Cassette and ask the students to listen to the sounds and the words.4. Say the words slowly and clearly. Check that the students are making a distinction between the short and the long vowel sounds correctly.5. Play the Pupils Book Cassette again. Ask the students to listen to the rhyme. Then ask them to join in with the words of the rhyme.6. Ask the students to listen to the words and then write them under the correct symbols.D. ConsolidationPlay a game.E. Summary F. Listen , chant and write the correct days. 1) Play the Pupils Book Cassette for the students to listen to the chant. 2) Play the cassette again and encourage the students to join in with the words.
