Unit 5 Futuroscope-Excitement and learning仁怀市第四中学任莉莉83928740. Teaching Content Unit 5 Futuroscope (Reading). Analysis of teaching material The central topic of this unit is theme park. By studying this unit, the students will know what a theme park is. Analysis of the students status The students have heard about or seen some theme parks in some books or on TV, but they may not know what the difference between common park and theme park is. Teaching Goals A. Knowledge aim Grasp some important words, phrases, sentences .B. Ability aims: Train students reading and speaking skills. C. Moral aims: Develop the students imagination and their cooperative abilities. Important points: 1. Words: futuroscope, advanced, jungle, creatures, shuttle, souvenir, sneakers. 2. Phrases: in advance, come to life,. Difficult points: 1. The usages of some words and expressions. 2. Describe a theme park about science and technology. Teaching tools: blackboard, courseware, multi-media. Teaching Methods: Situational teaching methods & interactive teaching methods, cooperative exploring methods and audiolingual method. Teaching ProceduresStep 1 Greeting and Lead-inT: Good morning, everyone!Ss: Good morning, teacher!T: Sit down, please. Nice to see you.Ss: Nice to see you, too.T: Are you nervous?Ss: YesNo.T: Dont be afraid, its ok. Can I ask you some questions to know more about you? What do you do in your spare time (watch TV, skating, or anything else)?Ss: T: Have you ever been to a park? Where did you go?Ss: .T: Have you ever been there? Where is it?Ss: 会展中心T: How clever you are! Its the Central Park. What did you do there?Ss: T: We can play sports, games there. We also can sit under the tree chatting with our friends, right? What can you see in the Disney Land?Ss: Mickey mouse and Donald Duck.T: Can you see the Mickey mouse and Donald Duck in the common park?Ss: No.T: Do you know what the theme park is?Ss: T: A theme park is a park which talks about a special theme. Do you want to know more about the theme park?Ss: Yes.Step 2 Fast-readingT: Ok, today were going to learn something about the Futuroscope . Please turn to page38 and scan the whole passage within two minutes and find out the main idea of each paragraph, then match them. Are you clear? Ss: Yes.(After 2 minutes, check the answers together.)Step 3 Careful readingT: Do you want to know more about the Futuroscope ?Ss: Yes.T: Now I will give you four minutes to read the first paragraph and fill in the blanks in your learning guide . Do you want to go?Ss: Yes.T: If you want to you should we know where it is, right?Ss: Yes.T: Now please read the second paragraph within five minutes and find out the answers to the questions, clear?Ss: Yes.(After five minutes, ask some students to show their answers.)T: Ok, we know the park is in France, but how do we get there?
