. well, today, lets see how we should choose our clothes.reading1. get students to read the text and finish activities 2&3.t: first, read the passage and find out what the words and expressions mean.show the students the following words and expressions.big name designer clothes logo look coolgive students some time to look through the passage and later ask some of them to explain the above words and expressions according to the passage.suggested answers:big name: having a widespread public reputation as a leader in a specified field; famousdesigner clothes: clothes designed by well-know or famous designer or companylogo: company symbollook cool: look fashionable, attractive, or relaxedt: thats it! from these words and expressions, what can you infer about this passage?s: it may talk about some brand clothes.s: it may talk about that brand helps us choose the clothes.t: well, partly reasonable. next, look through the passage and find out what the writers main point is.after students finishing read the passage, ask some of them to give the answer.2. get students to read the passage and finish activity 4. help them summarize the main idea of each paragraph.t: now read the passage again. this time you should read carefully and summarize the main idea of each paragraph. before you read this passage, lets learn something about reading for main idea.show the following information to the students.term: main ideathe main idea of a passage or reading is the central thought or message. in contrast to the term topic, which refers to the subject under discussion, the term main idea refers to the point or thought being expressed. the difference between a topic and a main idea will become clearer to you if you imagine yourself overhearing a conversation in which your name is repeatedly mentioned. when you ask your friends what they were discussing, they say they were talking about you. at that point, you have the topic but not the main idea. undoubtedly, you wouldnt be satisfied until you learned what your friends were saying about this particular topic. you would probably pester them until you knew the main idea, until you knew, that is, exactly what they were saying about your personality, appearance, or behavior. the same principle applies to reading. the topic is seldom enough. you also need to discover the main idea.if time permits, the teacher can help students learn some tips about reading for main idea. the teacher may refer to the passage in teaching resources. give students some time to read through the text and summarize the main idea of each paragraph. after finishing doing that, the students are asked some of them to talk about the answers. then they can check their answers by doing activity 4. 3. get students to do activity 5. help students learn how to find the correct meanings for these words and expressions required in activity 5 in certain text. the teacher can divide them in to 8 groups, each group respond for one of the sentences. later ask one of each group members to explain the meaning and give the reasons.suggested answers:1. clothes.2. well-know companies.3. the clothes, made by the less well-know companies, though look the same as the designer clothes, dont sell as well as the designer clothes without logo.4. not the point: many people think the right running shoes will make you run faster or play better. the point: its the training-not the trainers-that improves your speed or your score.5. they succeed in making people buy their clothes by clever advertisements.step iii talking and writingget students to discuss whether they like designer clothes referring to what they have learned from this pa
