The title is “The Stolen Child”, attractive and imaginary. There is no surprise that I have long heard of the name “The Stolen Child”, for which I had already read a novel being wrote base on the theme of the poem, also titled “The Stolen Child”. The novel is a fairy tale about changeling. They kidnap a human child and replace him or her with one of their own. That means the human child will live a forest life after then, far away from human beings. The poem exactly the basis, origin and inspired of that book. The poem reflects the early influence of Romantic literature and Pre-Raphaelite verse. The poem was written in 1886 and is considered to be one of Yeats more notable early poems. Wiki. The poem is based on Irish legend and concerns faeries beguiling a child to come away with them. Yeats had a great interest in Irish mythology about faeries result in his writing of this poemA masterpiece of Yeats, I was absorbed in its fantasy, emancipation and vast vision, some feeling that I would sing high in the tree: “take me away.” I love this poem more than I can say. At the end of every stanza, there is a repetition: To the waters and the wildWith a faery, hand in hand,For the worlds more full of weeping than you can understand. The last sentence refers to a man, who has braved the wind of change; withstand the suffering and chaos of life, crave for a free and peaceful land. Moreover, he also call for the attention of innocent children, hoping that they can hand in hand with the fairy, far away from human society and metropolis full of neon light, to the waters and the wild, he said: “the world full of suffering and weeping, you are too young to understand, come on, come with faery, theyll take you far away” One element evident in the poem is rhyme. Yeasts uses a ABABCC, DDEEFF, etc. rhyme scheme: highland, lake, island, wake, water-rats, faery vats (stanza one).He also take ferns tears as symbol of weeping of the world, this is a personification. Furthermore, “The rocky highland, a leafy island faery vats that Full of berrys and of reddest stolen cherries, the wave of moonlight glosses”, all of which picturesque scenery add the charm and radiance to the artistic conception. We all like fairy tales, which enshrined out best wish to a better world. Happy ending, prince and princess live a happy life; phrase the
