IELTS 口语 Wedding Describe a wedding that you attended?you should say:when it was who got marriedwhat happened at the weddingand explain whether it was a typical wedding ceremony(thank you thank you thank you!) 网络材料:Just went to a wedding a few weeks ago, but it was not like the usual weddings we attend. It was a second wedding for both of them - it was my niece who got married. They had the ceremony at a United church - there were maybe 50 guests. The ceremony was very formal, music by string quartet and an opera-ish singer. I suppose it was an average type ceremony, with all the regular bits. It was a late morning ceremony, then we were hosted to a brunch at a local hotel - very posh, yummy food. Short programUsually, the weddings we attend are ones which have a church ceremony in the afternoon, then later there is a dinner and dance.Went to a wedding a couple of weeks ago(Sept.13)It was my husband and mine friends daughter who got married! We did not go to church because I have 5 year old twins and had to get a babysitter and the church was at 1:00. they got to sleep over my parents house, which was great for me! I had a few drinks. They open bar!She gave out programs at church and at reception that listed all the bridal party.(she had 27 people total in bridal party!) WOW! She wrote how she met her boyfriend/husband. And a little history about them. It was cool! She had a picture of them on a BIG picture frame surrounding picture to sign your name and write message! That was different. The girls dresses were RED and BLACK! Her dress had RED on back of dress to match girls dress. REAL PRETTY!At each place setting- she put a menu which listed all foods you were going to eat!The menu was in red! At dance floor, she had hanging roses coming down. And at table- she crumbled up red rose petals in middle of table with Hurricane lamp with candle in middle which person with closet birthday got to keep! She had alot of different and unique ideas that I did not see at other weddings! It was fun! She had a cool DJ that gave out mardi gras necklaces and those glow -in -the dark-bracelets for the kids. We are Italian and they played Italian music too.He got everyone on the dance floor to do fun dances. It was a fun wedding! I had NO KIDS so I had more fun!Best Answer - Chosen by VotersI attended the reception for a Chinese wedding as the ceremony was an all day event. The reception was at a Chinese restaurant (a nice one). There were 10 courses of food most of which were fish (including jellyfish and chinese specialties). The bar was not open bar but there was some liquor and wine on the tables. The bride changed 3 times during the reception and was announced each time she came in and there was another event. I dont really remember all the things the bride and groom did as there was a lot going on all the time. They did go around to each table though and do a toast with each group which was nice. It was a lot of fun but i was HUNGRY by the end as I dont eat fish or meat and there werent any other options. If id have known ahead of time I would have eaten before arrival. My husband was in heaven thoughI did a wedding May before last in which the bride was Chinese & the groom was Pakistani. So we incorporated some traditions and elements from both cultures, as well as American. The Chinese traditions we incorporated were the Chinese tea ceremony where the bride serves the grooms parents & the groom serves the brides parents. We also had the Double Happiness symbols on the doors of the reception hall.A wedding anniversary is a very important celebration in the life of every couple; it is a day to commemorate one of the most important days in their lives-the wedding day. The purpose of a wedding anniversary is to honour the memory of the wedding, this event is especially important for those couples who are celebrating for the first time.Last year I was invited to a very special wedding anniversary. It was supposed to be Jack and Karens first anniversary. The event itself was to take place on the 20th of June, but the preparations sterdet a lot sooner than the actual date of the event. Since they had an unusual romantic marriage on the beach, the anniversary was sea themed. Apart from inviting the guests, the preparations included setting up decorations(such as blowing up blue ad indigo balloons)ordering special dishes as well as arranging some out of the ordinary entertainment for everyone. On the day of the anniversary, the guests, including me, were invited to a huge decorated ballroom. The first thing I noticed upon entering the interior was an enormous adorned cake in the very middle of the interior. Only after taking a closer look at it did we notice the exquisite sugar decorations. All of them had the shape of sea themed objects such as fish, shells and boats. The circular table around the cake gave us the impression of wealth because of the dazzling array of exotic seafood on it. After having an ample dinner, champagne corks popped as the guests drank a toast to the happy couple. Few guests could fail to be amazed about the exceptional atmosphere of the celebration however, what we were most astounded about was the performances that came after the toasts. Were there a variety of not only sea themed plays with real actors but there were also movies shown on huge plasmas with a short history of the couple. Everyone had a whale of a time seeing the recordings of Jack and Karen before they were married. The fantastic anniversary ended with the couple being given a variety of presents from the guests. The anniversary turned out to be an absolute success; it was an unforgettable experience not only for the couple but also for the guests. Personally, I felt that the celebration was a great experience and I am sure that everyone is looking forward to Jack and Karens next anniversary.Common elements across culturesA number of cultures have adopted the traditional Western custom of the white wedding, in which a bride wears a white dress and veil. This tradition was popularized through the wedding of Queen Victoria. Some say Victorias choice of a white gown may have simply been a sign of extravagance, but may have also been influenced by the values she held which emphasized sexual purity.1 Within the modern white wedding tradition, a white dress and veil are unusual choices for a womans second or subsequent wedding.
