Located in the north of Qingdao citys Jiaozhou Bay, it has a total planning area of 63 km.In 2006, Qingdao High-tech Zone was enlarged in the north of Jiaozhou Bay by national approval.In 2007, the Qingdao Municipal Party Committee and Qingdao Municipal Government proposed the strategy of protecting the environment while simultaneously promoting development in and around Jiaozhou Bay, in which Qingdao High-tech Zone occupies an important place. Red roofs, green trees, blue sea and sky is the reflection of Qingdao. Every unique German architecture makes Qingdao exude rich European style. During this period, the development of Qingdao focused on the old town. That means, build the new central business district east of the old city, and move the city hall eastward; and construct a modern container terminal in Huangdao, which led the development of Huangdao. In the light of this strategy a new modern Qingdao was co-created. The strategy aims to make the bay the core of Qingdao Municipality and a cluster area of high-tech industries. Northern Jiaozhou Bay, which contains the core part of Qingdao High-tech Development Zone, will develop into the third generation city of Qingdao Municipality and guide the economic development in Qingdao and Shandong Peninsula. In this strategy, Qingdao Hi-tech Zone takes the core position, links the east and west part of the city, and radiates to the interior part.
