some fingers while feeding a bear at a zoo in manitowoc, after she ignored warnings and barriers, reminded me of the story i heard about a couple who put their baby on the back of a wild horse in south dakota to get a really cute picture. we all do silly things at times no one is immune(免疫的) but treating wild animals as lovely pets has to fall into a special category. teddy bears and disney movies arent actually representative of real bears.comments (3) view comments post a comment 1 tosaleft - mar 11, 2010 10:46 amdont you think that maybe, just maybe some alcohol was involved? 2 tk421 - mar 11, 2010 11:09 amit was already approved that alcohol was involved. stories that begin with a drunk person saying “hey, i got an idea, watch this!” rarely end well. 3 tristan kloss - mar 11, 2010 11:41 amalcohol certainly isnt involved when people decide to keep “pets” like chimpanzees, baby tigers, etc. stupidity, definitely. dogs are pets because of thousands of years of domestication(驯养). even farm animals, which have been kept by humans for thousands of years as well, arent let in the house. so why keep animals that treat human contact with, at best, indifference and, at worst, violence? 59. in ernst-ulrich franzens opinion, the woman lost her fingers because _. a. the zoo keepers didnt warn her of the danger b. she didnt know the bear was a wild animal c. she was somehow influenced by cartoon characters d. she climbed over the barriers and angered the bear60. tosaleft thinks the wounded woman _. a. may have been drunkb. may be a little stupid c. was addicted to wined. fed wine to the bear61. tk421 means a drunk person _. a. should be forbidden to enter the zoob. always gets himself into trouble c. is often fond of making up storiesd. usually likes to show himself off62. what does tristan kloss think of people treating wild animals as pets? a. kind.b. illegalc. lovingd. stupid参考答案 5962、cabd *结束being thirteen has certain problems that only another thirteen-year-old would understand. the biggest, i think , is learning to get along well with adults. i have found that when dealing with grown-ups, it is wise to remember two things: 1. always use your head. 2. never use your head. for instance, one day just before supper, my mother sent me to the store for a loaf ofwhole-wheat bread. they didnt have any. when i told my mother, she said, “well, what kind did you get? “ i told her i didnt get any. she looked as if i had just announced that i was leaving home for good. “ for goodness sake, ” she said, “ if they didnt have whole-wheat, you should have got something else!” why dont you use your head?”not long after that, she sent me to the store for red oilcloth. they didnt have any, so i bought seven yards of purple, i thought it was pretty. mother didnt . she said,” who ever heard of purple oilcloth in a red kitchen?” i told her i was only trying to use my head. she said, “ well, dont! and in the future, if you cant get what i send you for, dont get anything.” see what i mean? there are other things that seem a little strange, too. if my father goes out for the evening, he tells me to “ look after” my mother and sister. but, if the family goes out, and i want to stay home, my father wont let me. he doesnt feel comfortable if i am home alone. that means i am old enough to “ look after my mother and sister but not old enough to “look after” myself! another problem is what to do when you trip over the cat and land with your head in the refrigerator, causing a large lump to appear just over the right eyebrow. in this case, your father could feel free to explode with a few choice words. “ your sister could shed enough tears to dampen the whole room. your mother could, and probably would, do both. but you? you a
