The word called great, the city is called “Rome”. This sentence describes Rome which is written by a famous Chinese writer. Exactly, Rome is a glorious city and it leaves many valuable things that worth learning. The most representative is Roman civilization.Roman civilization originated in Italy, 5th century BC Greek classical culture was highly prosperous when the Roman civilization was a city-state just entered. With Romans expansion, the influence of the Roman culture was increasing. Classical Roman culture is an important part of western culture. Whether in architecture, religion, science, philosophy, or in literature, art and other aspects of Greek culture can be seen the impact and imprint, it is continuation and development of Greek culture, but its achievements in these areas are more than Greece edge. It is said that “Rome Wasnt Built in a Day”, which means success requires a long-term accumulation and efforts. Early Romans was an agricultural nation, in a very long time, they have maintained an unsophisticated, diligent and pragmatic folk. Republican early Romans life was saving and not extravagant; people were simply dressed, eating simple. In Rome, under the influence of the national spirit, modesty has become the most important feature of Roman culture. As the Roman influence is very prominent on polity, the development and improvement of cultural is also obvious, Roman society has gone through the monarchy era, the Republican era and the era of Empires three stages. Therefore, the political practice of the Romans, has added many new elements to the Western political tradition. Besides, Roman has higher achievement on the concept of state, ruled surgery, legal, engineering and other aspects of military technology; advocated perseverance, obedience, responsibility, morality among citizens. Roman culture has played a vital role in development.In the natural sciences, the Roman nation has a strong practical spirit of scientific rationality, which should consists of two aspects: first, making ancient Greek knowledge be integrated, as well as a master of the knowledge system; Second, focusing on the scientific knowledge to production and practices, thereby creating the worlds most highly developed productive forces. Romans emphasised on practicality, closely related with peoples agronomy, architecture, military, medical, surveying and other practical science and technology has been developed in Rome, and made great achievements. Romes practical and technological development in agriculture was the most prominent ancient western performance.Well, as far as I am concerned, I am interested in the part of law. In “the History of Rome” this book, it refers to law, and I get to know that Civil Law comes from jus civile of Roman law. Jus civile is in terms relative to the jus gentium, it is mainly to adjust the relationship between Roman citizens and foreigners, but when the Justinian compiled Corpus Juris Civilis, the two laws have combined. Throughout the Civil Laws, Civil Law this word has multiple meanings, and it need to be distinguished. Civil Code and general provisions of the Civil Law, Civil Code has two forms, one is Romanesque. Jurist Roman Gaius came up with Romanesque in his book Institutiones, Emperor Justinian adopted this form, and divided it into civil law, property law and procedural law.
