In this class, well review it by doing some exercises. Fist lets sum up what we have learned in this module. 1).Review some new words and expressions. 2).How to use protasis/ condition clause.Step2.Do some exercises: Explain some useful phrases :1 .bright =clever adj.2 .prepare sth. for sth3sth /sb.called .4.help out more at home /help sb. out5.in the same way 6.3rd February February the third7.too much +不可数名词 much too +adj.8.be busy doing sth .=be busy with sth.9.look up 。 查找。10Thank you for doing sth .Step3.Teach the students to read through a short passage well and tell them the ways of reading:1. Read the passage quickly ,try to understand the main idea .2. Remember the key words (who ,where ,what ,when ,how ,which ).3. Try to do the exercises correctly .4. After finishing the questions following the passage ,read it again to check the answer .Step 4 Practice writing :Give the students some key words and some Chinese meaning .Let the them write the letter by themselves first , ask two or three students to read their passages to the class , let the other students find the mistakes and try to correct at the same time. then the teacher give the model on the screen.Step5. Make a survey:(1)Ask the students to make a survey in the class about their respective heroes and ask what they know about the hero. Ask them to make a conversation like this :Who is your hero?Why do you think he should be your hero?What do you know about him?Can you say something more? (2)Show photos of Yuan Longping ,Dr. Norman Bethune and other well-known on the screen and ask if the students know them and who can say something about them.(3)Tell the students that we are going to read a story about Dr. Norman Bethune.3. Read (1)Fast reading: Ask the students to read the story and prepre to answer two questions: Question 1: When was Dr. Norman Bethune born? Question 2: What did he do for China?(2)Careful reading: Read the story again to finish Activity 3. Underline the important and difficult points. (3)After-reading: Elicit questions from the students briefly explain them. Ask the students: What have you learned about Dr. Norman Bethune? What can we learn from him? The students may have a discussion about what above asked.4. explain: The use of the structure of so that. Give students examples as : The boy is so young that he cant go to school. We should learn from them and do every good thing from now on. Lets go on to read A famous British nurse.While reading, try to: cut/ the sentence into thought groups, study the predicative, darken the connectives and underline all the useful expressions.
