And can identify the difference between attributive clauses introduced by “where/when, prep+which/whom” and attributive clauses introduced by “which/whom”Ability goalEnable students to use attributive clauses masterly .Important and difficult pointsEnable students to master the principles of Attributive clause Let students master attributive clauses introduced by “where/when, prep+which/whom”Teaching method Task-based teachingTeaching procedureStep one -Enjoy an English song Step two - revision1、Question: who can identify the usage of Relative Pronoun in Attributive clause?Let students say their usages.(this aim is to make a basement for the following exercise” Fill in the blanks with proper relative pronouns” )2、Exercise : Fill in the blanks with proper relative pronouns During doing this exercise, enable the students to identify the part which antecedents (先行词) act as in these Attributive clause ,based on this ,teacher instruct the students to choose the proper relative pronouns ,and present the detailed usages of some specific words such as indefinite pronouns (不定代词)/ the superlative of adjectives+ nouns/3、sum upWhat is Attributive clause?Do you know some other words that can guide Attributive clause?Step three -Reading、finding and thinking1、Turn to page 34 ,reading the text,,and tick out the attributive clauses introduced by “where/when, prep+which/whom” in the passage and translate them into Chinese.Let the students pick out the antecedents (先行词)、 relative adverb. And identify the Sentence trunk ,and then underline “Attributive clause”? 2、Question; What are there differences between these sentences appearing in step2 and step 3 . On what circumstance do we use relative adverbs such as “when, where, why,” to introduce attributive clauses?Step four- Presentation of Relative adverbs usages 1、Combine the following sentences This is the farm.I worked on the farm ten years ago.This is the farm where I worked ten years ago.This is the farm on which I worked ten years ago. The school is near a park. My son studies in this school.The school where my son studies is near a park.The school in which my son studies is near a park. The day was the 5th August.I arrived at the town on 5th August.The day when I arrived at the town was the 5th August.The day on which I arrived at the town was the 5th August. The days are gone forever. We lived together happily during those days.The days when we lived together happily are gone forever.The days during which we lived together happily are gone forever. There are many reasons.People like traveling for many reasons.There are many reasons why people like traveling.There are many reasons for which people like traveling.This task is to let students first find out the common words of every two sentences; secondly,let the students identify the part of the common words in the second simple sentences. thirdly ,teachers show the correct complex sentences introduced by Relative adverbs on the screen. Fourthly, show the correct complex sentences introduced by prep+Relative pronoun on the screen and compare the two expressions. 2、Draw some conclusions where 引导的定语从句修饰表示地点的名词, 并在定语从句中作地点状语,相当于“介词 +关系代词(which)”。when 引导的定语从句修饰表示时间的名词, 在定语从句中作时间状语, 相当于“介词+关系代词(which)”。why 引导的定语从句修饰先行词 reason, 在从句中作原因状语, 相当于“for + which”。选择定语从句的关系词一定要看先行词在从句中所做成分。当先行词在从句中作状语,则选择相应的关系副词。当先行词在从句中作主语, 宾语或表语, 则选择相应的关系代词。3、summaryThe relative adverb(关系副词)Referring to Function in the clausewhen ( = at/ in/ on/ + which)timeadverbial of timewhere ( = in/ at/ + which)placeadverbial of placewhy ( = for + which)reasonadverbial of reasonStep five-practice for Relative adverbs and prep+Relative pronoun1、 match and complete the following sentencesThe mines why I got a job was the 5th of August.The reason where I worked was because of my hard work.The time when I joined the ANC Youth League were 9 km from my home. The building where we voted was late at night.The date when I arrived was very tall.2、 fill in the blanks1. Beijing is the place _ I was born.2. Is this the reason _ he refused our offer?3. I will never forget the day _ I first met you on the seashore. 4. There are occasions _ one must yield. (vi;让步,屈服)5. I went to the company _ I visited (vt.) ten years ago.6. This is the reason _ he was late. 7. This is the reason _ he gave. (vt.) 8. Can you think of a situation _ this phrase can be used?9. Ill never forget the days _ we spent (vt.) together.By these two exercises ,enable students to master the usages of relative adverb and prep+ Relative pronoun. At the same time , let students master the specific usages of some words such as “point, situation, case,stage,position”介词 + 关系代词引导定语从句时,如先行词是物, 关系代词只能为which。介词 + 关系代词引导定语从句时,如先行词是人, 关系代词只能为whom。3、Show some sentences to help students how to choose proper prep 4、Exercise; How to replace the relative adverb , using prep+relative pronouns 1.The time when I first met Nelson Mandela was a very difficult period of my life.
