The Story or A Summary of the Book The Call of the Wild is a novel by American writer Jack London. The plot concerns a previously domesticated dog named Buck, whose primordial instincts return after a series of events leads to his serving as a sled dog in the Yukon during the 19th-century Klondike Gold Rush, in which sled dogs were bought at generous prices. Buck is a huge dog who became a wild dog because of the life experience. At last, it became a head of the wolfs.III. Comments or My Views on the BookThere are some sentences that impressed me a lot. “I would rather be ashes than dust! I would rather that my spark should burn out in a brilliant blaze than it should be stifled by dry rot. I would rather be a superb meteor, every atom of me in magnificent glow than a sleepy and permanent planet. The proper function of man is to live, not to exist. I shall not waste my days in trying to prolong them. I shall use my time.” How beautiful the sentence is! This remains me of some things about Jack London. Because Jack London is self-educated, Londons ideal lacked consistency and precision. For example, he clearly accepted the Social Darwinism and scientific racism prevalent during his time. Although he supported womens rights to vote and created some of the most important independent and strong female characters in American fiction, he was patriarchal towards his two wives and two daughters. I was attractive by the name of the bookThe Call of the Wild. I like the word “wild”, when it comes to the word, I fell excited very much. In my mind, wild means freedom, character and beauty. Wild means freedom. Buck is just a common dog at first. There is no difference between Buck and common pet dog, its duty is walk and play with its host. It is strong and full of power just like its father and is flexible and sharp like its mother. It was sold because of the poor life, then it began to its hard life. It experienced a lot and always run to the freedom. As for the freedom, I want say some things extra. Everyone loves freedom, however, not everybody can obtain the freedom. Considered that Buck underwent an unforgettable memory and then seek the freedom by itself, it is difficult for it to go though so much. As for a person, I think freedom means everything. Only can freedom brings you happiness, and only freedom can achieve what you real want. Of course, it related to our dream. We are university students and we are trying our best to find our dream and to achieve them. Is not dream means freedom? We are forward a kind of life that do what ever we can do. I do believe that is freedom. Wild means character. Maybe it is far away from my topic about the book Call of the Wild, I just want to share some opinions of mine with you. There is a kind of saying about 90s. they say that the 90s is sink into poverty. Is it true? Of course not. 90s is a generation that full of character. They are brave and they using their courage to do what they eager to do, they express their emotion without hesitation. This is what we want but not degenerate. Wild also means beauty., I always think so. Buck is just a dog, but it tells us an argument “if you have the ability, you can be successful.” That is right, ability is the most important thing if you want to succeed. from a kind dog to a head of the wolfs.
